THE PERSONALITY

“In November 2009, I decided to start my YouTube channel to teach gamers everywhere how to become better Call of Duty players. After one year, my channel had attracted over 80,000 subscribers, my videos had accumulated a total of over 10,000,000 views, and little did I know this was just the tip of the iceberg for my online persona xJawz and my YouTube Channel.”

THE CONTENT

Standard gameplay commentaries are the cornerstone thousands of gaming YouTube channel and make up for about 90% of the videos I have ever uploaded. Although not much editing or production value goes into these, it was uploading these that got me to where I am today. Along side so many others who did the same thing, I managed to stand out enough with my personality to become the most subscribed YouTube channel focused on helping people get better!

Every once in I do a video a log. There are only a few occasions that warrant them for me, such as travelling to a gaming event/show, giving an important update to my viewers, or doing a product review for a company that sponsors me. These are always some of my most well received videos because people love to see me doing fun things or talking about cool products and brands.

Videologging

The most well received videos of mine, even better than video logs, are premium shows I have produced on my network before. These always have higher production value, take much more time to make, and are more creative than anything else on my channel. I currently have postponed all of these series as I am re-inventing them be optimized for brand integration. A few of them already are however, including this series where you can see me wearing the headset of a company that sponsors my channel, ASTRO Gaming.

THE YOUNGER AUDIENCE: GENERATION ZThe content produced for the xJawz network attracts a strong demographic, as shown above, of male teens between the ages of thirteen and seventeen. This generation of consumers, referred to as ‘Generation Z’, is one of the most valuable demographics to companies across the world today. Like never before in history, people are connected online in ways that would have been unconceivable just a decade ago. People’s likes/dislikes, interests or hobbies, favorite brands and even recent purchases are very often publicly displayed to virtually everyone from long time friends, to mere acquaintances. It is this sharing of information that turns sales into personal endorsements.

THE INFLUEN

CEAlthough I do not consider myself a celebrity of any high magnitude, a large portion of my subscribers see me as one. Just as Michael Jordan influenced fans and aspiring basketball players to purchase the shoes that he endorsed, I influence people to purchase certain gaming and computer related equipment based on my recommendation. There are no other influencers in the gaming community that can compare to me in this field because people come to me to learn how to improve their gameplay, not just to be entertained.

CASE STUDY:In mid December of 2011 I developed a creative way to help boost the social media presence of GammaLabs, a company that had been sponsoring me for less than 2 weeks. I traveled the Machinima Inside Gaming Award Show in Los Angeles and made a video there asking my audience to ‘Like’ their new Facebook page.

The video was an astounding success, resulting in over 10,000 Facebook page likes in just 48 hours! Since then, because the video continues to collect views, they have received nearly another 5,000 likes on the “Gamma Gamers” fan page making for a total of over 14,000 likes!
