This diverse tour will lead you from the tranquil beauty of Lake Ohrid, via picturesque mountains and sparkling rivers, to the inviting beaches of the Albanian Riviera, providing a taste of all the very best that the south has to offer. This incorporates visits to UNESCO heritage sites, as well as fascinating glimpses into an untouched subsistence culture. The wonderful variety extends to accommodation along the way, which includes top hotels in prime locations and log cabins on a remote mountain trout farm. A challenging cycling route, providing a feast for the senses and plenty of opportunity to experience the hospitality of the friendly Albanian people. Independent just since 1912, Albania is rising as one of Europe’s hottest and least expensive destinations. As it approaches a century of freedom from communist rule, its unspoiled beaches, snowcapped mountains, traditional cuisine, Cold War era artifacts, unique traditions, unrivaled hospitality and wild countryside are ripe for discovery by mass tourism. Itinerary Day to Day
Day 1: Arrival in Tirana
After checking in at the hotel in Tirana, we will go for a tour in the mystery shrouded capital.

Day 5: Sotire to Benje (Permet) A climb out from Sotire to a high grassy plateau surrounded by soaring peaks before reaching the source of the River Vjosa and descending through its spectacular gorge to Leskovik. Descending to Çarshove and then following the cornice route high above the river to Benje situated on a bluff above the river. After lunch we will take a short ride to the thermal springs for a swim at the end of the Langarica canyons.

Day 2: Qafe Thane to Pogradec After the morning transfer to the Albanian-Macedonian border. Start cycling clock-wise around the lake, stopping for lunch at the UNSCO town of Ohrid. After lunch continue along the shore all the way to Tushemisht, the other Albanian-Macedonian border. Day 3: Pogradec to Korce Today’s ride begins with a climb out of the lake valley to the mountain-flanked plateau above. After pulling yourself away from the gorgeous views of the valley below, the ride continues through a colorful patchwork of lost-in-time farmland on wonderfully empty rural roads. After a day on the road make sure not to miss the bustling markets of the mountain city of Korcë.
Day 4: Korce to Sotire We start cycling leaving behind the agricultural plateau of Korce climbing steadily into the border mountains through a landscape of barren rock interspersed with wild flowers. Numerous cols and valleys lie ahead, climbing into the heart of the Grammoz Mountains and over the Barmash Pass (1159m) to Sotire lying in its own tranquil valley. Have lunch in Erseka town, 45 km from Korce.

Day 7: Gjirokaster to Sarande (via Butrint) Saranda lies along the Ionian coast, sandwiched between the high mountains and the sea and close to the ancient remains of Butrint. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Butrint is one of the county’s most important archaeological sites, tracing its origins back to the Greeks and the Romans.

Day 9: Himara to Vlore Today’s route is as challenging as it is spectacular. Cycling up to the Llogara pass 1000 above the blue water of the Ionian sea and its National Park , home to black pine, Eurasian otter and golden eagles. The park is a scenic expanse of protected woodland that encompasses the forests on the northern side of the Llogora Pass. After lunch we cycle downhill all the way to Vlore. Day 10: Departure Farewell! Morning transfer from Vlore to Tirana Int Airport.

Day 6: - Benje to Gjirokaster Continue along the valley towards Kelcyra the distant shark’s tooth peaks, which guard a further gorge. Ride between them to the confluence of the Drinos following yet another gorge. This opens out into a wide plain with the town of Gjirokastra (city of 1000 steps) high above on the right.
Day 8: Sarande to Himara A roller coaster of a ride, leaving as the mist is burnt off by the sun, climbing steeply out of Saranda to a rocky plateau. Then it’s over cols into bays and around headlands, always with the stunning mountain scenery to the right and sea to the left before descending to the long beach and the bay of Himarë.
