MethodsMiriam approached men and women within a 4-block radius of Roosevelt Ave. & 108th St.

This includes people doing many activities: walking, shopping, working, sitting, both with and without kids.

She asked if they were Ecuadorian. If yes, then began the survey.

Main Takeaways Overall, people liked the idea (88%)

However, only 40% of the people surveyed had family near an APROFE center in Ecuador.

And not everyone who liked the idea would use the service (only 55%) for several reasons: Their family uses public health centers

Their family uses a private doctor

Don’t have money

People surveyed had mixed ideas about how they would pay for the service.

Many respondents were very shy and nervous.

IMPORTANTThese people are used to being defrauded. They are very suspicious of any services and if APROFE offered this service, there are critical factors:

1. Be clear WHAT the service is. Payment is for medical services, NOT health insurance.

2. Notify the person paying AS SOON as the medical service is provided to the family member. This is the main value they identified.

3. Be TRUSTWORTHY. They are naturally suspicious.

Recommendations1. Calculate the cost of adding the ability to select, pay

for, and confirm receipt of medical services online.2. Calculate the cost of marketing this service in Queens.3. Contact Delgado travel for potential partnership.4. Calculate the number of new patients needed to break-

even on the cost.5. Build Monte Carlo model from survey data to see if

Queens market can support the cost of adding this service.

6. Execute a targeted marketing strategy aimed at immigrants from cities with APROFE clinics.

7. Re-evaluate after 1 year to determine success.
