Segara Anak Lake is located in the west part of the Mount Rinjani

Geographically, this mountain is located in Sembalun Lawang village, Sembalun sub-district, East Lombok district, the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

• Many Balinese people come every year to hold a sacred ceremony called Pekelan

• In this ceremony people placed jewelry in the lake as an offers for the mountain spirits

• The people of Wetu Telu also consider this lake as a sacred place and they come here to pray on the night of the full moon

Route to the Segara Anak Lake

You have to walk to get there! Walking is the only appropriate and challenging way to go to Segara Anak Lake

First route – Sembayun path

• There are several pathways known as Segara Anak and Mount Rinjani peak hiking trail

• The First trail is known as Sembalun path, this path is popular and chosen by many tourists and climbers because this path is crowded with people who want to go to the Lake and the mountain peak

• Sembalun line contains path: Mataram – Sembalun – Sembalun Lawang – Segara Anak Lake

Sembayun path• The distance from Mataram to Sembalun

is over 4-5 hours’ drive away• Rent a car to go directly to Sembalun or

public transportation• Public transportation change cars twice• From Mataram ride shuttles to Aikmel• Then ride other public transportation to

Sembayun path• Dominated by savannas and has

many open fields• Despite the heat, this line provide

some beautiful scenery and not too steep when compared with Senaru path

Second route - Senaru Path

The second path is the Senaru Path which follows these points: Mataram – Senaru – Segara Anak Lake – Pelawangan Sembalun – Puncak Rinjani

Senaru path• In this line, you start from terminal

Mandalika in Mataram• From Mandalika go to Senaru by public

transportation (3 to 4 hours)• Senaru Segara Anak Lake : 7-10 hours• Get to the top of Mount Rinjani? go to

Pelawangan, Sembalun which will takes 4 hours trip

• From there, you can travel to the peak by walking for 2-3 hours

Senaru pathConsidered as the most crowded path that chosen by tourists and local people who want to hold the sacred ceremony in the Segara Anak Lake
