Day 2: Amman—Jerash—Amman At 09.00 am you will start your city tour of Amman. The Jordanian capital, Amman, was known in the Old Testament as Rabbath-Ammon, the capital of the Ammonites around 1200 BC, it was also referred to as "the City of Waters". This is the place where David sent Uriah the Hittite to the front lines of battle. The massive fortifications, where David, an ancestor of Jesus, brought about Uriah’s death so that he could marry his widow Bathsheba, are still standing. You will start of by visiting the Citadel, towering above downtown Amman, the site gives beautiful views over the city. It includes many structures such as the Temple of Hercules, the Omayyad Pal-ace and the Byzantine church. Continue to visit the Roman Theatre in down town Amman. After drive to Jerash (Gerasa), to tour the worlds best preserved Roman provincial city. In Jerash there can at least 15 churches be found. Overnight at 3* Larsa Hotel in Amman, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 3: Amman—Ajlun (Mar Elias & Ajlun Castle) - Anjara—Amman At 07.30 am you will drive to Ajlun Nature Reserve. Here you will hike the Prophet’s Trail. This is a guided tour taking around 4 hours. A moderate hike of 8.5 km. The hike takes you from Ajlun Forest Reserve Visitor Center to Mar Elias, the ruins of one of Jordan's oldest churches. It is named for the Prophet Elias, or Elijah, to whom Mar Elias is dedicated. The trail leads through fig and pear or-chards, amongst forests of oak and oriental strawberry trees. The stonewalls that crisscross the valley guard the farmers' crops inside from both the winter rains and wild boar. Relax in the shade with a glass of tea before climbing to the hilltop ruins, which provide sweeping views of the sur-rounding area. The hike also includes a locally prepared picnic lunch near the ruins. After your hike you will visit Ajlun Castle and then continue driving to Anjara. Jesus Christ, his disciples, and the Virgin Mary, passed through Anjara once and rested in a cave there during a journey between the Sea of Galilee, the Decapolis cities, Bethany Beyond the Jordan and Jerusalem. The cave in Anjara has long been a holy place for pilgrims and has now been commemorated with a modern shrine, the Church of Our Lady of the Mountain. The cave was also designated by the Catholic Churches of the Middle East as one of the five pilgrimage sites for the year 2000. After back to Amman for overnight. Overnight at 3* Larsa Hotel, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 4: Amman—Salt—Pella—Um Qais—Amman After brealfast drive to Salt. The City of As-Salt, northwest of Jordan’s capital, Amman, houses the tomb/shrine of Job, the wealthy, righteous man from the Land of Uz. Continue to Pella. Modern day Pella (ancient ‘Penuel’, meaning ‘the face of God’) was so named by Jacob after he wrestled there all night with God in the form of a man or angel (Genesis 32:24-30). A massive Bronze and Iron Age temple recently discovered at Pella, in the northern Jordan Valley, is thought to be the best-preserved temple from Old Testament times anywhere in the Holy Land. Drive on to Um Qais. The old Decapolis city of Gadara (modern-day Um Qais), with its spectacular panoramic views overlooking the Sea of Galilee, is the site of Jesus’ miracle of the Gadarene swine. It is here that He encountered a demented man who lived in the tombs near the entrance to the city; Jesus cast the bad spirits out of the man and into a herd of pigs, which then ran down the hill into the waters of the Sea of Galilee and drowned. After your visit to Um Qais transfer back to Am-man for overnight. Overnight at 3* Larsa Hotel, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 5: Amman—Bethany—Mt. Nebo—Madaba After breakfast drive to Bethany Beyond the Jordan. The site of John the Baptist's settlement at Bethany Beyond the Jordan, where Jesus was baptized, has long been known from the Bible (John 1:28 and 10:40) and from the Byzantine and medieval texts. The area is also associated with the biblical account of how the Prophet Elijah (Mar Elias in Arabic) ascended to heaven in a whirl-wind on a chariot of fire. Drive on to Mt. Nebo, from where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Continue to Madaba for a short city tour. Visit the St. George Church, with its famous mosaic map, the Apostle’s Church, Archaeological Park and Madaba Museum. Overnight 3* Mariam Hotel in Madaba, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 6: Madaba—Mukawir—Um Ar-Rasas—Karak After breakfast check out of your hotel in Madaba and drive to Mukawir. The 1st century AD Roman-Jewish historian, Josephus, identifies the awe-inspiring site of Mukawir (Machaerus) as the palace/fort of Herod, who was the Roman-appointed ruler over the region during the life of Jesus Christ. It was here, at this hilltop fortified palace, overlooking the Dead Sea region and the distance hills of Palestine and Israel that Herod Antipas, the son of Herod, imprisoned and beheaded John the Bap-tist after Salome’s fateful dance. Continue to Um Ar-Rasas, A rectangular walled city, about 30km southeast of Madaba, that is men-tioned on both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. It was fortified by the Romans and local Christians were still embellishing it with Byzantine-style mosaics well over 100 years after the start of the Muslim Umayyad rule. Just outside the city walls is the recently unearthed Church of Saint Stephen with its perfectly preserved outstanding mosaic floor, the largest of its kind to be discov-ered in Jordan and second only to the world famous mosaic map at Madaba. Follow the King’s Highway, Abraham who passed through northern, central and southern Jordan, would certainly have used this route on his journey from Mesopotamia to Canaan. Stop at Karak for a visit to the immense Crusaders Castle. The Tomb on Noah can be found in Karak as well. Overnight at Carwain Hotel in Karak, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 7: Karak—Dana—Moses’s Spring—Little Petra—Petra If you haven't had the chance to visit Karak Castle yesterday then today is your chance. After you will drive to Dana Nature Reserve, where you will make a short view stop. Continue on to the Moses’s Spring located at the beginning of Wadi Musa, the town next to Petra. During the Exodus, Moses and the Israelites passed through the Petra area in Edom. Local tradition says that the spring at Wadi Musa (Valley of Moses), just outside Petra, is the place where Moses struck the rock and brought forth water. You will drive on to Little Petra for a visit before continuing to your hotel for overnight. Overnight 3* Petra Palace, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 8: Petra Walk to the visitor center of Petra to visit one of the most famous Jordan attractions Petra. Petra seems to be mentioned in the Bible’s Old Testament under several possible names, including Sela and Joktheel (2 Kings 14:7). Petra was almost certainly the last staging post of the three kings, who took frankincense, gold and myrrh to honor the baby Jesus in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1-12). After visiting the Siq, Treasury, Street of Façades, the Amphitheatre, you still have time to visit the High Place of Sacrifice and/or the Monastery. Optional: you can have the lunch at the Basin Restaurant at the end of the colonnaded street in Petra if you would like we can book that for you. Dinner suggestions: Red Cave, Sun City, Al Qantarah (all local restaurants, no alcohol). Overnight at the 3* Petra Palace Hotel in Petra, based on double/twin rooms.

Day 9: Petra Aaron, the brother of Moses and Miriam, died in Jordan and was buried in Petra at Mount Hor, now called Jabal Harun in Arabic (Mount Aaron). A Byzantine church, and later an Islamic shrine/tomb, of Aaron were built on the summit of the mountain, which today attracts pilgrims from all over the world. If you are up for it you are going to hike up Jabal Harun today. It’s not an easy hike, you should be fit and have no fear of heights. A local guide will accompany you during the hike up. Day 10: Petra—Wadi Rum—Aqaba Drive to Wadi Rum for a 3 hours jeep tour of this beautiful desert, famous about the red sand and the rock formations. This Aqaba early church dates from the late 3rd or early 4th century AD (exactly between 293 and 303). After drive on to your hotel for check in and overnight. Day 12: Aqaba—Lots Cave—Wadi Mujib—Dead Sea Check out of your hotel in Aqaba and drive via the Biblical Wadi Araba Desert towards the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is one of the most dramatic places on earth, with its stunning natural environ-ment equally matched by its powerful spiritual symbolism. The infamous Sodom and Gomorrah and other cities of the Dead Sea plain, or (Cities of the Valley) were the subjects of some of the most dramatic and enduring Old Testament stories, including that of Lot, whose wife was turned into a pillar of salt for disobeying God’s will. Lot and his two daughters survived and fled to a cave near the small town of Zoar (modern-day Safi). The Bible says Lot’s daughters gave birth to sons whose descendants would become the Ammonite and Moabite people, whose kingdoms were in what is now central Jordan. Although not confirmed, the sites of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are believed to be the remains of the ancient walled towns of Bab ed-Dhra’ and Numeira, in the south-eastern Dead Sea central plain. On a hillside above the town of Zoar (modern-day Safi), Byzantine Christians built a church and monastery dedicated to Saint Lot. The complex was built around the cave where Lot and his daughters found refuge. You will see Lot’s Wife Pilar of Salt and visit Lot’s Cave today. After you will continue to Wadi Mu-jib, historically known as Arnon, you could stop here for a view or if you like you could hike the 2-3 hours fun water Siq Trail! This is optional and requires an additional supplement of 20 JD per per-son. After you will transfer to your hotel at the Dead Sea for overnight.
