COMENIUS MULTILATERAL 2010-2012FRANCE-AUSTRIA-SLOVENIA-SLOVAKIA-CZECH REPUBLIC

Our agricultural schools have in mind to faci-litate the entrance of our students into the

working world and to contribute to the social and professional insertion of our students, wha-tever the diploma they get.

So we have had the idea to watch over the bor-ders so as to see how the different countries

in Europe succeed in doing this goal.

The title of our project is: „How to impro-ve chances of our students when en-

tering into labor market?“

The different partners of the project are:

• FRANCE: EPL 47, Site de Nérac• SLOVAKIA: Stredna odborna Skola, Banska

Bystrica• CZECH REPUBLIC: Tauferova Stredni

Odborna Skola Veterinarni Kromeriz• AUSTRIA : Landwirtschaftliche Fachschule

Litzlhof, 9811 Lendorf• SLOVENIA: Grm Novo mesto - center bio-

thnike in turizma, Kmetijska sola Grm in biotehniska gimnazija

Each school has visited 2 different partners schools during 1week and received the 2

other ones. The hosting school prepared a pro-gram of visits.

The main goal was to present the labor mar-ket and the conditions of life of people in

the different countries and help students to find other ways to facilitate their entrance into the working world . Communication was very im-portant and intensive and students got really involved in the experience and worked and com-municate well with others.

During meetings with the students of the hosting schools, students could also have a

view and compare the social life in the different countries: families’ problems, unemployment, cost of living, laws……all rules which are im-portant for them in our days to understand life and to get more eased in it.

We will use this experience in the future to improve our schools’ curriculum and to

explain to students how people in Europe can be at the same time so different but also so simi-lar. This will be a basis to show that Europeans people have the same goals, the same interests, the same way to solve problems and to act in life.

Twelve students from Kmetijska sola Grm in biotehniska gimnazija educated in florists, gar-

dener and horticulture technican programs and 2 teachers visited the partner school EPLEFPA Ar-mand Fallieres in France. The visit took place bet-ween 1st and 10th March 2011. Slovenian students discovered the school, another education system and a different culture.

They visited the museum of cork, the museum of plums, the castle of Henrik IV and the exhi-

bition of cattle. The students from Slovenia also

visited the horticulture schools in Ste. Livrade and Tonneins. With French student they exchanged their practical expiriences, played sports and had a lot of fun. During the weekend they visited their new friends‘families and stayed with them.

The exchange was a great expirience for our stu-dents. They got a lot of new friendships and im-

proved themselves in English.

Students returned home full of knowledge and with the wishes that they will visit their French

friends again.

Under the Comenius multilateral partnership project the group of 12 students and two

teachers from Kmetijska šola Grm in biotehniška gimnazija in May 2012 visited the partner school Tauferova stredna odborna škola veterinarni Kromeriž in the Czech Republic. At the same time there was also another partner school: Landwirt-schaftliche Fachschule Litzlhof from Austria.

Together they discovered the hosting school, the towns of Kromeriž and Olomouc. They visited

a family farm Vyjidaček, an agricultural company Agroječminek, an ecological farm Greicarova and ranch Kvasice. Students visited a lot of cultural at-tractions like castles, museums and churches. All together Slovenian, Austrian and Czech students cooperated in practical works. They had practical works in the fields of veterinary, biology, anatomy and animal health care. They also exchanged their experience of their practical training, their career and the differences between their countries.

The visit was a great opportunity to improve themselves in English, to meet students from

other countries and to get new friendships.

Students spent a great time in Kromeriž and they returned home with the wish that they will go

there again.

French students in Slovakia

The first thing that surprised us when we arrived in Litzl-

hof, the agricultural school with which we have a Comenius pro-gram, was the space around the school. This school is effectively surrounded by woods, mountains and it seems so opened to nature!

Secondly the way students are led at the school: they are li-

ving with more autonomy than in France, free to go in or out of the school, to take care about their machines….Effectively there are 3 sectors of activity in the school (animal production, vegetal pro-duction and forestry)and each of them is led by teachers helped by students.

After having visiting the school and its sectors of ac-

tivities (apple juice processing, bees, farm) we discovered many farms with different productions: horticulture, yoghurt and milk, herbs, ranch, wood…) Each time

we met the farmer who explai-ned his production and it was really interesting.

We also visited towns not far from the school like

Spittal, Salzburg, played sports with the Austrian students (football) or by ourselves (clim-bing). We also walk many times in the Alps, on the glaciers and it was impressive.

At school we also practiced with other students by

helping identifying herbs from the mountains, taking care of the veals, preparing the ropes and catching the animals….and we also communicate on a presentation of our school in France, what do we do, how do we live in our school, what kind of job we want to do,the way to find one at the end of our stu-dies…..

What an interesting expe-rience we had!

We left from Toulouse via Vi-enna to ‘Banska Bystrica’, the

town where we have been staying for ten days.

Activities were numerous: we visi-ted the school guided by Lukas,

the history and german teacher, who supervises us during our whole stay.

We went to visit the town, a cer-tain circuit named <the cir-

cuit of the clock> which ended by climbing on the top of the clock: the-re, we had a magnificent view on the mountains and the forests.

We also visited an original vil-lage which represents, thanks

to its architecture, the slovakian fairy-tales for kids ! And we did activities : planting water-trees at the front of the pond, arrangement of deck chairs on the site, spectacles etc…

We also went into a museum, connected with a passage of

the country’s iron factory ,visiting in-side where the conditions of life are difficult : heat, noise, dust…

We ate in a traditional Slovaki-an restaurant : the clothes of

the waitress, the tables, benches, the architecture of the restaurant, the food....were typically Slovakian.

We visited a castle which was bought by the iron factory re-

putated for it,a museum of resistance,a kind of hotel/bergerie/restaurant, where there were animals (horses, goats, pigs, chickens, sheep, rabbits..) and we helped the care-takers to clean the boxes and to sweep the floor .

Then we were led behind the school where tables and other ki-

chenwares were settled to cook. The programme was: preparing a Slovaki-an recipe and the Slovaks had to pre-pare a French recipe at the same time. So our mission was to make Halushkis and they cooked Spaghetti carbonara.

It was a nice trip full of discoveries and surprises and we really enjoyed

meeting people from another country and communicate and discover their country with them.

Erfahrungs-austausch in der SlowakeiOur two visits lead us to for-

mer Tchechoslovakia. First, in November 2011 we traveled to Banska Bystrica, in the heart of Slowakia. With its 80 000 inhabi-tants it‘s the geographical center of the EU.

We knew teachers and stu-dents from their visit in

Litzlhof so it was a meating with friends. Different from the capital Bratislava we noticed that this re-gion is less rich and the prosperty is lower.

We visited some companies which are connected with

farming. The students were int-roduced into the economy of this area and they saw the necessity of education to get a job. The owner of Agrotourism accented the im-portance of learning during the whole life.

Students spent the weekend at the parents‘ house of the Slo-

wakien students. It was a great experience to discover an every day life in Slovakia.

The second visit was to Kro-meriz in Moravia. in May

2012. We were perfectly introdu-ced to the country, to its culture, people and economy, especially ag-riculture.

The difference of family farms with a few cows and big far-

ming companies with more than thousand cows was very interes-ting. The excursion to the Thonet company was also a highlight of our trip. The manager told us that he was inspired by a visit he made into a chair factory when he was a boy. To see as much as possible is a big motivation to increase the chances on the labour marcet.

One day in the capital Prag opened the horizon on cul-

ture and society. To walk through the historical part of the city was a little timetravel back into the Habsburg Monarchy.

The focus for both visits was not only our main subject:

farming but also culture and live-style. The students were very ent-housiastic in museums and chur-ches and not only in tractors and agricultural machineries.

English was the key for com-munication. Everybody was

very proud to be able to talk this language and to understand each other. Students saw the impor-tance of English and were very happy to use it.

We will allways remem-ber this two progressive,

friendly and keen countries and their importance in Europe.

One day during our stay in France in March 2012, we visited a wi-

nery in the beautiful small town of Condom. Immediately after our arri-val, we were attended by the friend-ly owner who guided us through the whole process of wine production from the very beginning to the wine tasting at the end.

We started the excursion at the sieve where grapes were

separated from twigs, leaves and other impurities. In the next step, the white berries are pressed into grape juice that undergoes the pro-cess of fermentation. The entire wi-nery was full of the smell of fermen-ted grapes.

Unlike white wines, in the red ones the skin is not separated

from the juice. It gives the wine not only its typical colour but also the vitamins and antioxidants are pre-served this way.

As we were carefully listening to our guide talking about other

production processes such as clari-fication, filtration, sulphuration or aging of wine, we could admire the huge stainless steel tanks where the wine was stored during the process of maturation. We were also shown bottling and expedition.

Tasting wines belonged to the highlight of the excursion. We

were offered red and white wine sorts (both of them of excellent tas-te) and Mr.Fingier, the director of the partner school showed us how wine should be tasted.

Of course, we did not hide our excitement over both the aro-

ma and the taste and as a result we bought a few bottles for our pa-rents so they could feel the touch of France in the pleasing atmosphere of their homes.

We enjoyed a busy but wonder-ful day on 13th April in Grm-

novo mesto, Slovenia, where we visi-ted Centre biotehnike in turizma.

We started our day early in the morning milking the cows.

You can imagine how we were sur-prised seeing self milking machine which operates itself, without human intervention and the cows were calm, quickly milked and even satisfied.

After the shower and comforting breakfast we headed for other

practical experience to the horse stables. There the work began. We cleaned the boxes, carried in the feed, and swept the floors… After we tided away all the tools we used we could not wait for our rewards, out riding lesson. We were divided into two groups according our riding abilities and hurrah for outside riding hall. That was an excellent experience for all of us, nobody fell down and we could all feel that we had good fun af-ter a good work was done.

Then it was just a time for a lunch. And after that, we jumped onto

the bus and went to a ex-student of the Slovene school pig farm. He tried to breed the female pigs (sows) and their young ones (piglets) as much naturally as it its possible. Saws were even allowed to move freely, graze themselves on the outside meadows, play in the muddy pond or just relax under the trees. The piglets are even given toys they can play with! That this approach has its impact on only for the animal´s quality of life but also as we realized during the degus-tation of the homemade products on the quality of meat as well.

Then we continued our journey to the turkey farm. That farm, large

in its grounds, consisted of two halls, one for young ones hiding themselves under the heaters, artificial hens, se-cond for adult animals. All the floors were padded with sawdust, always fresh water and plenitude of feed was a must and clearly natural thing.

Thanks luck and marvelous cooks we even managed delicious diner

in the boarding house! That was one of ours superb day in Slovenia.

Erfahrungs-austausch in der SlowakeiIn the autumn of the year 2010

twelve Slovak students (6 boys and 6 girls) and two teachers, on Thuesday got on the the bus early in the morning and travelled for 10 hours to Litzlhof, Lendorf in Austria.

In the afternoon we arrived at school and we were pleased and

suprised about the school and the whole area around it. A very nice stay and friendship started for us and our schools. Our programme was full of interesting activities, we visited some agriculture sheep and cow farms. The students gai-ned a lot of information, lots of practise shows and new experi-ence there.

Not only work, school and education was on the pro-

gramme. Nice places, like Ossiach,

Villach or Klagenfurt and the highlight - rainy - Venezia in Italy were on our programme too.The students spent their weekend with the new Austrian friends and their families.

The last night there was a very nice programme full of folk

music - thanks Günter and Aust-rian boys - and finally the giving of our certificates. In the end, the-re are very nice memories, new friends and great partnership. Our thank goes especially to Alois and Josef.

Exactelly one year later, in the autumn 2011 seven boys

and five girls were on the visit at school GRN in Novo Mesto. After arriving we were acommodated in the dormitory house and a beau-tiful week started. They show-

ed us the school and all the area around it with cows, horses and many various kinds of plants. Our work started, we tried to take care about the horses in the com-pany with Slovenian students and other manual works. For the boys the tractor driving was absolutel-ly fascinating and the girls enjo-yed their work on the traditional chaplets.

During the week we saw the city Novo Mesto, we visited

Ljublana, the capitol of Slovenia and the highlight of the week, our weekend in Spa in Postojna Cave.

Except of the fog whole week we enjoyed our stay in Novo

Mesto and we would like to ex-press our thank to Mateja and her students from Slovenia.
