What attracts cruise lines to Southern New Brunswick?

The Bay of Fundy!• It has the highest tides in the world!

• Twice daily, 100 billion tons of seawater flows into the rocky bay.

• The water height can increase and decrease by as much as 14 metres between low and high tides! That’s about the same as a four-storey building!

• It takes about 6 hours to go from high to low!

HIGH TIDELOW TIDE

How do tides work? The water in the Bay

of Fundy is pulled by a gravitational force created by the movement of the sun and moon. The pull of water is called a ‘tide.’

When the water is coming in it creates “high” tide (when it reaches its peak).

When the water is going out, it creates “low” tide” (and therefore more beach or shoreline).
