Introduction After retiring as the vice president of Technology Automation Control Solutions

at Honeywell, Daniel Sheflin was free to pursue his passion for fat biking along beaches. Since Daniel Sheflin now resides in Florida, he has his wife drop him off in certain locations where he can ride his bike home to Ponce Inlet.

Fat biking is more popularly known as a snow sport, but many bikers are turning their attention to certain beaches across the country. Unfortunately, not many beaches support fat bike rentals nor are the terrains fit for the gear involved.

Luckily, there are a few popular beaches that are fat-bike friendly in different locations around the country. Here are some examples:

1. Newport, Oregon

Bikers have two options when it comes to riding through the 365 miles of Newport's undisturbed shoreline. They can either go up north to explore the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, or they can ride down south to enjoy the sand dunes at South Beach State Park.

Fat Bike Beaches2. Coronado Beach, San Diego

Coronado beach has several fat bike rental options, as well as an 8.2 mile-long stretch of beach for the enjoyment of fat bikers. The view promises to be scenic, but bikers must be careful to not go past Imperial Beach and the Tijuana Estuary because the area is already across the border of Mexico.

3. Daytona Beach, Florida

One of Daytona Beach’s defining features as a fat bike track is its hard-packed sand. Bikers can ride for long hours, with smooth gliding, all throughout the coastline. Apart from that, they have rental stores and booths as well.
