International Yoga Festival

Chettikulangara Bharani
March 3, 2017 – Chettikulangara Bhagavathy Temple, Kerala
Chettikulangara Bharani festival celebrates annually and showcases the cultural richness of the state.
The attraction of these festivals is the parade of huge decorated structures that are taken out in a
ceremonial procession. This is one of the best time to visit “God’s Own Country” and becomes the part
of this annual extravaganza.
Chapchar Kut
March 3, 2017 – Aizawl, Mizoram
Chapchar Kut festival is named after bamboo wherein Women’s showcase various tribal dances
performances on the beats of drum. The Drum is being played by the men using the bamboo sticks.

Paripally is a town in Thiruvananthapuram and Gajamela is the combination of two different words i.e

Holika Dahan is celebrated a night before Holi by burning the devil, Holika. Days before this festival
people start gathering woods and burn than on the eve of Holi. This signifies the victory of good over
evil.

Holi is also known as the “Festival of Colors”. Holi gets its name from Holika wherein the devil is burnt a
day before Holi in order to save Prahlad by Lord Vishnu. It represents the power of Devotion over the
evil. This festival is celebrated by covering everyone with different colored powder and water.
Thirunakkara Arattu
March 15-24, 2017 - Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple, Kerala
It is a temple festival that celebrated for 10 days. The Thirunakkara Mahadeva temple is located in the
heart of the Kottaym, Kerala. The major attraction of Thirunakkara Arattu festival is the all night
Kathakali dance performance.
Shigmotsav
March 24 – April 7, 2017 – Goa
Shigmotsav also known as Gulalotsav is the biggest spring festival. Just like Holi it is also a festival of
color. The most popular event in the Shigmotsav is the Ghode Modni Martial Arts Horse dance.
Konkan Turtle Festival
March 27, 2017 – Velas Beach, Maharashtra
The most unique and important festival that the month of March has kept with himself is Konkan Turtle
