India and its national emblems

NATIONAL FLAG:Our national flag has three colours and an Ashoka chakra in the middle of the

flag. The length and breadth of our National flag are in the ratio 3:2. Ashoka chakra has 24 lines. It was taken from the Ashoka’s sarnath stoopa. Our flag was recognised as National flag on july 22nd 1947. The three colours in the national flag expresses a meaning.

NATIONAL EMBLEM:Our National emblem has four lions but only three of them are

visible to us. Below the lions we can see a horse, Ashoka chakra, cow. And below it in Devanagari lipi the words “SATYA MEVA JAYATE “ are written.

NATIONAL ANTHEM:Our National anthem is “JANAGANAMANA”. It was written by

Rabindranath tagore. It was recognised as National anthem on jan 24th 1950. It was firstly sung on Dec 27th 1911 at National congress meeting inn Kolkata. In order to sing the full song the time required must be 52 seconds.

NATIONAL SONG :Our National song is “VANDEMATARAM”. It was written by

Bankin chandra chatarjee. This poem was taken from the novel “Anand math” written in Bengali. This was used as a revolutionary song by Indians during freedom revolution. It was first sung on 1896 at Indian congress meeting.

NATIONAL ANIMAL:Our National animal is “TIGER”. Indian government recognised

Tiger as our National animal in the year 1972 and from April 1973 it started a project to protect tigers and the project is known as “Project tiger”.

NATIONAL BIRD:OUR National bird is “PEACOCK”. It was recognised as our

National bird in the year 1964.

NATIONAL FLOWER:Our National flower is “LOTUS”

NATIONAL SPORT:Our National sport is “HOCKEY”.

NATIONAL TREE:Our National tree is “BANYAN TREE”.
