Founded in the 9th century and
home to the oldest university in the world, Fez
reached its height in the 13th–14th centuries under
the Marinids, when it replaced Marrakesh as the
capital of the kingdom. Fez is
the second largest city of
Morocco, with a population of 1.1
million. Fez is roughly
divided into three parts: Fez El Bali (the “old part of
the medina”), Fez Jdid (the “new
part of the medina”) and the New City (or Ville
Nouvelle)
Positioned at Fes el-Jadid the Royal Place is a graceful building and takes 80 hectare. Unfortunately, the palace is not open to the public, but it is worth to view the stunning structure from the outside
