HISTORY

Moscow has always been a central point of Russian

and World’s culture. Now it remains the biggest

treasurer for every art specialist.

This is not surprising because there are over 75

museums and a great amount of art galleries and

exhibition halls – over three hundred.

GARAGE CENTRE FOR CONTEMPORARY CULTURE

Today Garage is one of the largest exhibition spaces of

the capital that aims to become Moscow epicenter of

contemporary cultural life.

The Garage Center currently reflects the contemporary

innovations of national and world’s culture. It invites you

to the wonderful world of modern art, showing its best

pieces. This center offers a great number of various

exhibitions, educational projects for kids and adults, and

publishing.

Cultural Center covers an area of 8500 m ², where except

for main rooms there are cinema, bookstore and cafe.

The new exhibition space is located in Gorky Park on

Pioneer Pond.

PROEKT_FABRIKA

PROEKT_FABRIKA is a member of international network

of non-profit cultural centers – Trans Europe Halls, it is an

art space for non-commercial creative projects.

Today it is the example of peaceful coexistence of art

business, operating enterprise, production and

workplaces for talented people in Moscow.

Here you can find art studios and workshops of design,

architecture, cinema, theatre, cartoon animation and

contemporary music studios.

Red October Factory

The Red October island burst in the Moscow arts and

cultural scene in 2009. It's located right in the center of

the city - not far from the Kremlin, Christ the Savior

Cathedral and main building of Tretyakov Gallery. During

the Soviet years this complex of buildings was the factory

of the Red October chocolate factory. Now the former

factory is occupied by art galleries, restaurants, clubs,

small hotels, little cafes and interesting little boutiques.

The current most popular residents are the Lumiere

brothers photography centre and The Art Strelka design

college.

Strelka

Occupying part of the giant Red October chocolate

factory, this media, architecture and design institute

houses photography and art galleries, restaurants and

editorial offices for magazines and online television

channels.

LUMIERE BROTHERS

PHOTOGRAPHY CENTER

This fashionable photo gallery is located in the very heart

of Moscow, next to the Kremlin, Cathedral of Christ the

Savior, big art galleries, design studios popular clubs and

restaurants. The photography Center is housed in an old

and very big mansion at the Moskva River Embankment.

Lumiere Brothers Photography Center has three huge

exhibition rooms, lecture hall, library with an immense

collection of rare books in photography and an exclusive

bookshop.

WINZAVOD Winzavod (Wine Factory) is the first and the biggest

Center of Contemporary Art in Russia. It unites all the

areas of modern culture: exhibitions, festivals, lecture

programs, cinema, concerts, theater premieres.

The purpose of Winzavod is to support and to develop

Russian contemporary art, art initiatives and help talented

young people. Visiting Winzavod you will see the art that

defines not only todays, but also tomorrow’s life.

MANEZH

The Manezh was built in 1817 in honor of the 5th

anniversary of Russia’s victory in the 1812 war, back than

it was used for military drills.

After 1917 Manezh served as a garage for government

vehicles. And since 1957 it has been continuously used

for exhibitions and public events.

Nowadays it is one of the main Moscow exhibition halls.

There are two exhibition spaces, a conference hall and a

cafe on the third floor observation deck.

MULTIMEDIA ART

MUSEUM

The Multimedia Art Museum was opened in October 2010

on the base of the Moscow House of Photography. One of

the main principles of museum is complete openness to

the new forms of visual expression and for the fresh,

innovative trends in the Russian and foreign media art

and photography.

There are 7 floors of spacious exhibition halls and

minimalist architecture that is a great font for modern art.

The exhibition history of MAMM and Moscow House of

Photography counts more than 1300 exhibitions in Russia

and abroad.

ARTPLAY ARTPLAY is located in the former factory "Manometr“ and

occupies an area of 75,000 square meters. Premises of

the studio are located on the top floor of a former factory

building, dating from the end of XIX - beginning of XX

century.

ARTPLAY, providing a new life to carefully reconstructed

factory buildings, has become an important part of the

contemporary cultural landscape of the capital. ARTPLAY

unites designers, architects, furniture, lighting, ceramics,

decorative materials shops, involving them in cooperation

with each other.

National Center for

Contemporary Arts The National Centre for Contemporary Arts was created

in Moscow in 1992, at the moment when contemporary art

was only acquiring the basis for its normal existence and

development in Russia. Building of NCCA is hidden in a

small alley near Moscow zoo.

Today, the NCCA continues its active work aimed at the

development and popularization of the Russian

contemporary art and its integration in the global art

context.

Flakon design Factory

In 2009, this glass factory was transformed into a space

for business and creativity, with event areas, offices,

recording studios and marketing and design agencies.

Moscow Museum of

Modern Art Moscow Museum of Modern Art is the first state museum

in Russia that concentrates its activities exclusively on the

art of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Museum is run by Vasily Tsereteli, the grandson of

sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. In 2015 the museum will

celebrate fifthteenth anniversary. Today the Museum has

five venues in the historic centre of Moscow and has one

of the largest and most impressive collections of modern

and contemporary Russian art, which continues to grow

through acquisitions and donations.
