The fourth most populated country in the world, Indonesia is an archipelago that comprises more than 17,000 islands, most notably Bali. However, there are many more reasons to visit Indonesia beyond Bali.

1. Komodo dragons: Komodo National Park is located in Indonesia and, as the name suggests, serves as a home for the world’s largest living lizard and the closest relative to the dinosaur.

2. Scuba diving and snorkeling: Approximately 20 percent of the world’s coral reefs are in Indonesia, making it an ideal place for underwater exploration.

3. Cuisine: With all the different islands and cultures, Indonesian cuisine is expansive. The most popular dishes include satay, nasi goring (fried rice), and sambal sauce, a spicy sauce used to garnish riche and other dishes. Additionally, Indonesia is home to some of the best coffee in the world. The term “a cup of Java” refers to the Indonesian island Java.
