PREFACE
Salzburg is known as the birth place of Wolfgang A-madeus Mozart and as location of "The Sound of Mu-sic". Visitors love the narrow streets and wide squa-res in the historic centre, Salzburger Nockerl (a regio-nal delicacy) Salzburg Festival and the wonderful mountain panorama.
A playful lightness is what makes Salzburg unique among other international cities. The silhouette of the Fortress, the Cathedral, and steeples make this city one of the most enchanting baroque places north of the Alps. Salzburg's beauty even made the city a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its sights are amongst the most popular world-wide and the city's name is synonymous with music and culture all over the world.
When wandering through the historic centre of the city Salzburg, the famous sights are quite literally at your feet: On all corners, visitors can be enchanted by the remnants of the past, visible in the churches,
steeples, facades, balustrades, and galleries. Nume-rous castles in the city and the immediate area invite visitors to stay and smell the roses. Mirabell Palace, for example, provides its Marble Hall as location for numerous weddings and its gardens for romantic photo shootings. Similarly, Hellbrunn Palace in the South of Salzburg, amazes visitors with wondrous fountains and water games in the summer and char-ming Christmas market in the winter.
No matter how you want to discover the city of Salz-burg: on foot, in a horse-drawn carriage - the Fiaker, by ship, bike, bus, alone or in the company of a Salz-burg tour guide - the city is always there to unveil its secrets from a variety of different perspectives.

STAGE OF THE WORLD
Mozart, music, good food, and friendly people: This is Salzburg, the world's stage. When visiting the city, you will discover very quickly that there are many mo-re reasons to come to Salzburg more than just once.
The Westbahn course turns at Salzburg towards Bi-schofshofen, Villach, and Italy, and the highways A1 and A10 split here as well. This allows visitors to re-ach major cities like Munich or Vienna quickly and conveniently.
The size of the city of Salzburg is convenient, not too big, and visitors can easily get around by public trans-portation, for example by Obus.
The city centre can be explored most easily on foot. Salzburg is Austria's premiere bike-city. The city of-fers 180 km of bike trails and 23 signed bike tours.
Visitors may also opt to explore the sights of Salz-burg on ship by taking a boat tour on the Salzach ri-ver. The Residenzplatz square is home to horse-drawn carriages, the Fiaker, which offer a romantic
city tour with two horse-powers, including a personal commentary by the carriage-driver.
The many green areas in the city are a pleasant sur-prise in a major city such as Salzburg. Depending on your preferences, you may want to visit the Mirabell Garden or the romantic hill Kapuzinerberg - which is almost a hike - on the way from the Fortress to Mönchsberg hill.
Besides the ever-present theme of Mozart, the city also offers a lively and outstanding coffeehouse cultu-re, fantastic beer gardens, and wonderful fine dining restaurants.
Having a drink at sundown at the Mönchsberg hill or sitting in a coffeehouse in the garden of Mozart's house at Makartplatz is a true Salzburg experience.

CITY OF SALZBURGThe city of Salzburg is the capital of the State Salzburg and Aus-tria's fourth-largest city. The location of the former Roman settle-ment Juvavum was chosen as a new diocesan town in the year 696. When the town became seat of the Archbishop in 798, Salz-burg started to develop economically. Construction work of the Salz-burg Fortress started in the 11th century. Archbishop Wolf Dietrich and his successor oversaw the advancements of the expansion of the city. The most well-known citizen of Salzburg is without a doubt Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Salzburg is often referred to as "Mozart city" and the international airport in Salzburg was named after the composer as well.

Salzburg's main train station was opened to the public in 1860. The city is an import-ant, international train hub with direct connections in all directions. The ÖBB Railjet takes visitors to Vienna in only 2 hours and 22 minutes and Munich can be reached in as little as 1 hour and 28 minutes.

The historic centre of Salzburg is only a short walk away from the main train station. If you want to explore the outskirts of Salzburg, the S-Bahn train and the Salzburg Lokalbahn offer a quick and eco-logical transport alternative.
International destinations like Budapest, Munich, Stuttgart, Frank-furt, Zurich, Ljubljana, Zagreb or Venice can be reached via multiple daily connections from Salzburg.

The address Alter Markt 10a houses Salzburg's smallest house. Constructed betwe-en 1830 and 1860, the building measures only 1.42 metres in width and today hou-ses an exclusive jewellery boutique. Right next door is one of the most well-known coffeehouses of Salzburg, the Tomaselli.

The city of Salzburg is home to 13 bridges, of which seven are open exclusively to pedestrians and bikers. The Makartsteg connects Hanuschplatz square with Makart-platz. Many Salzburg tourists visit the bridge Makartsteg to seal their love with a lock.

This spot has been home to a horsepond ever since the year 1696. The Marstall-schwemme is next to the Sigmund gate at Herbert-von-Karajan-Square. The impres-sive statue "Der Rossbändiger" (the horse-tamer) is one of the most important works of the artist Bernhard Michael Mandl.

The Mirabell garden is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city of Salz-burg. The garden was constructed under Prince-Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun. Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach was the lead architect. The garden provides a wonderful view of the Fortress.

The "Zwergerlgarten" (gnome garden) is a hid-den treasure of Salzburg. Climb the stairway, which is guarded by two lions, and you will see the first gnomes awaiting your arrival. Salzburg's Zwergerlgarten was built in the ye-ars 1690 to 1691. Back then, the garden con-sisted of 28 statues of gnomes made from regional marble. Unfortunately, many of the statues disappeared over time and today visi-tors can admire the 15 remaining gnomes.

On January 27, 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born at "Hagenau House". This is where Mozart lived until 1773. Today, the museum contains an expansive collection and offers a view into the life of the genius. The grocery store in the same building looks back at a long history: Even during Mozart's times, the first floor housed a grocer.

In the year 1773, the Mozart family moved from his birth place to a house called "Tanzmeisterhaus" at Hannibal square. Here you will find a museum showing all sea-sons of Mozart's family's life. The Mozarts lived here until the death of Leopold Mo-zart in the year 1787.

Prince-Archbishop Markus Sittikus had his summer residence built in the South of Salzburg. Today, the site contains Hellbrunn Palace, the trick fountains, the Museum of Folklore and the Salzburg Zoo. The ample meadows, flowers and trees of Hell-brunn make it a giant oasis and invite visitors to stop and smell the roses.

The water worlds of the palaceThe first stop of the guided tour through the site is this fantastic con-struction. Take this advice and avoid the table!
Wander on the paths of Salzburg's Archbis-hops and their illustrious guests from four hundred years ago and admire the trick foun-tains. When visiting the fountains and water games of Hellbrunn Palace, always remem-ber that as a visitor, you are also part of the events.
Guided tours through the area of the foun-tains and water games may end up with you getting very wet. Please feel free to take a rest and sit down to enjoy the spectacle, but make sure to check beforehand that the sur-face is not completely soaked already.
Especially when bringing your expensive pho-to equipment, camcorders or mobile phones, be very careful around the fountains and wa-ter games. The water streams may appear unexpectedly and from all directions, even those that seemed "safe" beforehand.
Children love to stand in the front row at Hell-brunn Palace and watch the fountains. Grown-ups who do not want to end up com-pletely drenched are advised to stay in the background and watch the water games from afar.

A statue in front of his birth place at Elisabethkai, right before the Makartsteg, re-minds Salzburg visitors of this grand conductor. On April 5, 1908, Herbert von Kara-jan was born in the city of Salzburg. He died on July 16, 1989 in Anif (about 10 km from his birth place), where he was also buried.

When walking through the gardens of Mirabell Palace, you will reach the Salzburg Theatre at the garden's southern end. This theatre shows classic as well as contem-porary plays and sometimes even opera performance during the Salzburg Festival in the summer.

Mirabell Gardens also open their gates for concerts and other events from time to ti-me. Between May and August, visitors can experience regional marching bands on Wednesday nights as well as on Sunday and holiday mornings. These events at Mira-bell Gardens are free and open to the public.

The Large Festival Hall Salzburg was planned in 1956 by architect Clemens Holzmeis-ter in cooperation with Herbert von Karajan and opened to the public in 1960. The building was erected on the site of the former Archbishop's stables. The Salzburg Festival attracts visitors from all over the world every year.

The evangelical Christuskirche is in the new part of the city and was completed in 1867. Evangelicals were chased out of the city of Salzburg during the 17th and 18th centuries. The return of the protestants in the 18th century made the Christuskirche the first evangelical parish in the State of Salzburg.

The gates to the cathedral are inscribed with three years: 774, 1628 and 1959. The-se are in remembrance of the years in which the cathedral was dedicated. Four statu-es depict Peter with key, Paul with sword, as well as the state's patron saints Rupert with salt shaker and Virgil with a model church.

The main organRupert and Virgil are enthroned on the main organ. Mozart was the royal organist and composed numerous and timeless pieces of church music.
The Baptismal fontOne of the treasures of the cathedral is the font, which dates back to 1311. This is also where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptised.
The Holy Trinity Church was constructed between 1694 and 1702 under Archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun according to plans by Fischer von Erlach. This impressive church was modelled after Roman constructions. The dome fresco by Johann Michael Rottmayr depicts the crowning of Maria and the Holy Trinity and is well worth a visit.

This is another one of the monumental buildings constructed under Archbishop Jo-hann Ernst von Thun and Fischer von Erlach. The chapels within the church are dedi-cated to the saints of the four faculties: Thomas von Aquin for theology, Ivo for law, Luke for medicine, and Katharina for philosophy.

The Archabbey St. Peter is the oldest existing monastery in the German-speaking world. Since its founding around the year 700, the monastery has been housed in the same location. The founder of the monastery was Frankish missionary Rupert.

But long before the year 700, this site was home to a cemetery, which is one of the oldest burial grounds of the continent. Here you can also visit the catacombs, the Gertrauden Chappell and Maximus Chappell, which were carved directly into the rocks.

Margarethekapelle in the center of the cemeteryThe small, late-gothic church was completed in 1491 and adorned with a baroque high altar in the 18th century.
Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach had the church constructed in the years 1505 to 1512. This is also site of the Sebastian Cemetery, completed in 1600. The tomb of the famous physician Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, called "Paracel-sus", has been housed in the passage to the cemetery since 1564.

The impression of the museum is breathtaking. With 7,000 square metres, this u-nique exhibition is the country's largest museum. The Nature House Salzburg is sui-table for visitors of all ages. It is best to take the elevator to the top floor and then work your way down to the ground level. You will not be bored.

The “Museum der Moderne Mönchsberg” was built in 2004 and shows contempora-ry and modern art on three levels. The exhibition offers works from its own collection as well as traveling collections from internationally renowned artists.

The largest preserved castle of Central Europe was constructed in the year 1077. The Hohensalzburg Fortress was built to protect the Archbishops. The huge con-struction was fortress, barracks and prison all in one. Today's exterior was built un-der Archbishop Leonhard von Keutschach.

Cableway to the Fortress (Festungsbahn)The ascent to the Fortress is not an athletic achievement. Climbing the Fortress in 54 seconds does have its advantages.
Inside the FortressWhen walking through the Fortress, visitors have an easy time imagining how life must have been over 900 years ago.
The museum offers a glimpse into the histo-ric life at the Fortress. You will find historic coins and ceramics, as well as weapons and armour. The historic torture devices on dis-play tell chilling stories of the way jurisdiction was handled back in the day.
The SalzburgCard allows you free entry and a free visit to the Prince's Chambers for visi-tors who arrive at the Fortress before 11 am.

When visiting the Salzburg Fortress, you will also pass by the "Salzburg Bull". This is the last, still existing late-gothic, medieval organ. Every day at 7 am, 11 am, and 6 pm, you will hear the "singing" of the chimes and the "roa-ring" of the bull. Inside the walls of the Fortress is the "World of Marionettes". Here, visitors can admire popular exhibits from the Salzburg Marionette Theatre, like Mozart's Magic Flute, The Sound of Music, and many more.

Prince's Chambers (Fürstenzimmer)Splendour is a sign of power - which becomes very apparent when vie-wing the Fürstenzimmer (Prince's Chambers).
The Kapuzinerberg is located on the right bank of the river Salzach. While it is only 210 metres tall, it is also home to an unusual and surprising attraction: the steep North wall is very popular with mountain climbers. The City Wall is open to the public from July to March - after that, climbers have to make way for the breeding birds. Af-

This hill is also home to a church (Imbergkir-che) and a castle (Franziskischlössel), where the restaurant "Wiazhaus im Franziski-schlössl" serves traditional, Austrian home-cooking. The restaurant is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Fantastic viewWhile only 210 metres tall, the Kapuzinerberg offers a fantastic view of the city, the Salzburg Fortress, and the Mönchsberg.
When descending the Kapuzinerberg via the Imbergstiege, you will reach an alley called Steingasse, which is home to the house of Joseph Mohr, who was born here in 1792.
In 1816, Joseph Mohr wrote one of the most well-known songs of all times: "Silent Night, Holy Night."
The premier of the song took place in 1818 in Oberndorf.

Romantic hiking pathsMany romantic hiking paths invite Salzburg's visitors to take a stroll in the city. Bring a drink and a snack and enjoy a relaxing time.
It was named after the monks at the Monastery St. Peter, which is located close-by. The Mönchsberg hill is 500 metres long and 508 metres high. You can "climb" the hill using the elevator or by ascending the steps at the Clemens-Holzmeister-Stiege. The-re are several more options to get to the top of the Mönchsberg.

If you want to take a special trip, take the Festungsbahn to the Salzburg Fortress and then take a slow walk to Mönchsberg hill. The first part slopes rather steeply (within the fortress), but after that the path is more or less flat. The view is fantastic and the short hike can be done at a slow pace in about 30 minutes. Afterwards, visit the "M32" in front of the museum to reward yourself with a drink. The descent via the elevator is free for customers of the café.

Kapitelplatz square is south of Salzburg's cathedral. Visitors can see the watering place, which dates back to the 17th century. This is where the horses were cleaned and fed hundreds of years ago. The second watering place in Salzburg is called Marstallschwemme.

Residenzplatz is a square connecting the Archbishop's residences in the historic city centre. The square also houses the Neue Residenz with the chimes, the cathedral, and the Alte Residenz. Residenzplatz is also site of the famous Salzburg Christmas Market and starting point for Fiaker tours.

ResidenzbrunnenIt is said to be the most beautiful fountain in the city. Archbishop Guido-bald Thun hired sculptor Tomasso di Garone to construct it.
Brodgasse is a quite unimpressive alley, if it were not for the fact that the famous Mo-zartkugel was invented at the house at Brodgasse number 13. You can take a slow walk, visit a coffeehouse, or simply enjoy the city away from the tourist masses.

When visiting Salzburg, it is a must to see Getreidegasse - a street that attracts visi-tors like a magnet. When walking down the street (or rather being pushed during main season), don't forget to look left and right for the passageways, which can be visited as well.

Judengasse looks like an extension of Getreidegasse. This street leads from Alter Markt to Waagplatz square. The house number 15 was a Jewish school in 1377 and a synagogue until 1415. This street was home to a Jewish community in the Middle Ages. Today, Judengasse is one of the most popular shopping districts of the city.

Throughout the years it had many names: Hannibalplatz, then Makartplatz, Dr.-Dollfuß-Platz, Adolf-Hitler-Platz, and then again Makartplatz. The sculpture "Calde-ra" has been adorning the square since 2011. The Hotel Bistrol, the Trinity Church, the Tanzmeisterhaus and Dopplerhaus and the Landestheater are also housed here.

Mozart's house is also home to a wonderfully cosy coffeehouse on the ground floor. During the warmer season, the garden behind the house can be used for a rest and a snack. After visiting the residence of the musical genius, reward yourself with a short stop at the café.

In the year 1887, the first power-station of Austria-Hungary started its operation. Se-ven years later, it began operating as a hotel under the name "Electrizitäts-Hotel". From 1907 on it was called "Hotel Bistrol", a family business in third generation. In 1909 it housed the first International Psychoanalysis Congress under Sigmund Freud.

The "Hôtel d'Autriche", later Hotel Österreichischer Hof", has been operating as Ho-tel Sacher since 2000. The guest list included prominent names such as Plácido Do-mingo, Cecilia Bartoli, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, the Dalai Lama, Julie Andrews, Tom Hanks and Mel Gibson.

The Mozartkugel was initially named "Mozart-Bonbon". The confectioner Paul Fürst created the sweet treat made from pistachios, marzipan and nougat in 1890 and na-med it after the genius. In 1905, the Prince presented the Mozartkugel at a Paris exhi-bition and was awarded gold. Which ones are the best ones? Try them for yourself.

FürstThe Original Mozartkugel from its inventor Paul Fürst. The Mozartkugel treats are still rolled by hand.
Josef HolzermayrHere you can buy real Salzburg Mozartkugeln. The store is a dorado for all lovers of chocolate and sweets.
ReberThis is where the real "Reber Mozart-Kugeln" are from. Reber is the lar-gest producer, with more than 180 million bonbons a year.
The alley Festungsgasse, on the way to Stieglkeller, is home to a small store, called "Schmankerlstube". It offers small regional treats, specialities that cannot be found on any menu. This may be the best place to buy a snack for your trip to one of the hills of the city of Salzburg.

The cellars of St. Peter Monastery date back to the year 803. It is one of Europe's ol-dest guest houses. Several times a week, the restaurant houses "Mozart Dinner Con-certs", with Mozart music and dishes made from original recipes from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The brewery Sternbräu lies between the alleys Getreidegasse and Griesgasse. It con-sists of four locales and two outdoor areas. The history of the brewery dates back to the year 1542. This is a place for a beer amongst friends, for good food and a cosy ambiance.

To reach the cellar, one usually has to go down the stairs. At Stieglkeller, visitors have to go up the stairs to reach the beer garden, which serves wonderful beers and deli-cious cuisine to reward guests for the "climb". As an added bonus: The way home is even easier, since it is downhill.

The bakery has been operating for over 700 years. Until today, brown bread has be-en baked in wood-fired ovens with natural sour dough. The entryway may be incon-spicuous, but the large millwheel in front of the store is highly visible. Still, many visi-tors do not know that there is this sensational bakery.

Founded in 1700, the Café Tomaselli is the oldest coffeehouse in Austria. In March 1852, the Tomaselli family acquired the establishment and has been operating it for five generations. If you want to taste a true piece of confectionary art, order the "Kip-ferl aus Butterteig mit Walnussfülle und Zucker-Rum Glasur".

The oldest delicatessen store of Salzburg was founded in 1656 and is called R.F. A-zwanger. The store has been operated by the Kopp family for four generations and offers spirits, wines, chocolates, preserves - in short, delicatessen from all over the world.

It does not matter what time of the year it is, it is always "Christmas in Salzburg" at the house in Judengasse number 11. Here you can admire hand-painted ornaments and all kinds of Christmas decorations - and you can buy them as well. The store al-so offers Easter decorations.

Getreidegasse in Salzburg is an address where - depending on your budget - you can either shop until you drop or at least window-shop. Many coffeehouses and restau-rants invite visitors to make a rest stop. Do not rush through the narrow streets, becau-se both sides have small alleys and passageways that want to be visited as well.

The public transportation bus Obus has been transporting passengers quickly, safely, and ecologically since 1940. Eleven lines take you all over the city. Salzburg AG is further operating the local railways, the elevator to Mönchsberg hill and the train to the fortress.

Besides city tours, visitors can also book tours to the outskirts of Salzburg and the surrounding areas. Thematic tours such as those visiting the sets of "The Sound of Music" can be purchased as well. Or you can take a bus to lake Fuschlsee, to St. Gil-gen, Hüttenstein Castle or lake Mondsee.

SIGHTSEEING BUSSES
Every day starting at 10 am until 9 pm during the summer and 4 pm during the win-ter, Salzburg's horse-drawn carriages, the Fiaker, offer their services for a stress-free and romantic city tour starting at Residenzplatz. The carriages offer seats for either four or ten passengers.

Visitor must not miss a tour on the river Salzach. In 40 minutes, the city can be seen very conveniently and from a different perspective: from the water. You can also take a three-hour-tour including transfer and visit to Hellbrunn Palace and return trip on a London-style double-decker bus.

Since mid-September 2016, the city of Salzburg has a new attraction: the Amphibian Bus. The bus holds up to 26 passengers and offers visitors a memorable way to see the city and the river Salzach in one vehicle. The tours are offered depending on the weather conditions and only in the milder months of the year.

The year 2017 is a year of anniversaries and renewal in the city of Salzburg: We celebrate 20 years UNESCO World Heritage City and 50 years Easter Festival Salzburg. The world-famous Parisian museum Louvre exhibits objects at Salzburg Museum during the festival season, and the architecture of the city shows the unique position of power of Salzburg's Archbishops over the centuries.
20 years "UNESCO World Heritage Site Salzburg Historic Centre"In 1997, UNESCO awarded Salzburg the title World Heritage Site. Three factors were deciding for the awarding of this honour: The century-long reign of the Prince-Archbis-hops, which influenced the architecture of the city, the uniqueness of the historic city centre and the important role of music in the birth-city of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. As UNESCO World Heritage Site, the historic city centre is especially protected. This means that guests will find a Salzburg that has adapted to modern times, but never lost its historic recognition value.

Mozart week with W.A. Mozart, Joseph Haydn and French horsesWolfgang Amadeus Mozart's music will be at the centre of this year's Mozart Week. The highlight of Mozart Week 2017 is the return of the horses to the Felsenreitschule: The French equestrian and choreographer "Bartabas" staged a theatrical performan-ce of Mozart's Requiem in cooperation with the "Académie équestre de Versailles." Another focus of the 2017 festival is the music of Joseph Haydn.

50 years Easter Festival Salzburg with Wagner's "Valkyrie"Salzburg's Easter Festival is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2017. This is an occa-sion for Chief Conductor Christian Thielemann and Director Peter Ruzicka to revive the tradition of Herbert von Karajan: The programme includes Richard Wagner's "Valkyrie" with its iconic stage setting from 1967. A companion exhibition called "Valky-rie 1967-2017" and two symposia will take place as well. Further highlights include concerts by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchest-ra with visiting conductor Franz Welser-Möst.

Salzburg Festival Pentecost 2017: "Wonne der Wehmut" This is the sixth time that the famous Italian opera singer Cecilia Bartoli will serve as the Artistic Director of the Salzburg Festival Pentecoste. Romantic stories from Scot-land and the resulting artistic and musical works are the main focus of this year's festi-vals, which Cecilia Bartoli called "Wonne der Wehmut". The opera "Ariodante" by Ge-org Friedrich Händel will be the opening oeuvre at the "Salzburg Festival Pentecoste" and Cecilia Bartoli herself will be on stage as the lead character. Further programme points include Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Richard Wagner, Giuseppe Verdi, Gioa-chino Rossini and Anne-Sophie Mutter.

Salzburg FestivalThe Salzburg Festival is one of the most famous music festivals world-wide. Starting in summer 2017, visitors can expect many new events besides the classic "must-sees" like Hugo von Hofmannsthal's "Jedermann". Visitors - especially those who love Mozart - can look forward to four theatre pieces and five operas, including "Aida" by Guiseppe Verdi with Ricardo Muti as conductor and Anna Netrebko on stage, a-mongst others. The programme will be published in Autumn 2016.

Paris - Salzburg: world-famous Louvre is visiting Salzburg MuseumTitled "Art royal - Meisterzeichnungen aus dem Louvre" (master-drawings from Lou-vre), the Festival Exhibition 2017 is presenting about 80 drawings from the Louvre Mu-seum at the Salzburg Museum Neue Residenz. This presentation is following another important event: The Salzburg Museum has been showing about 100 baroque dra-wings, sketches and sculptural drafts from the Louvre starting Autumn 2016 (October 17, 2016 until January 16, 2017).

Walking on the paths of the powerful Archbishops in the "Church City Salzburg"The honourable Archbishops governed the rich and powerful Princedom Salzburg for almost 500 years. Salzburg's Archbishops had numerous extraordinary privileges, of which some are still upheld even today, such as the title "Primas Germaniae" or the honorary title "Legatus Natus", which empowered them in the 11th century to make emergency-decisions in place of the Pope. The worldly and religious position of power of the Archbishops can be seen until to-day in the rich and unusual architecture of the city, which was a decisive factor for the status as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

"Sound of Music Weddings" - getting married on the beautiful film setMore than half a billion people from all over the world saw the most popular musical film of all times, "The Sound of Music". Every year, about 300,000 fans visit Salzburg to see the original sets of the movie. Now, five of the original sets are available for weddings: Mirabell Palace, Leopoldskron Palace, the White Pavillion at Hellbrunn, the Villa Trapp and Untersberg.

The railjet, the IC and EC trains of the Austrian Federal Railways OEBB connect Austria's state capitals hourly or bi-hourly. Convenient connections are available from and to Zurich, Frankfurt (by ICE), Prague, Budapest and Venice (starting 2017) round out the convenient travel offers. For international routes, OEBB offer night trains as an alternative.

Economy ClassThe Economy Class area of railjet trains offer a children's movie theatre in the first waggon as well as an area for storing bicycles. All saloon coaches on the railjet are air-conditioned and offer free WIFI for every passenger. Two seats share a common power out-let. The Economy Class area is right behind the locomotive and provides seats for 316 passengers in four waggons. Behind the Economy Class cars, one will find the railway restaurant.

First ClassThe railjet offers first class seats for 76 passengers. Gener-ous legroom and comfortable, individually adjustable leather seats create a relaxing and truly a First Class travel experi-ence. This area also offers space for passengers with re-duced mobility. Every seat has its own power outlet and fold-ing tray table. Drinks and culinary treats from the OEBB Board-Restaurant will be served right at your seat.

Business ClassBesides the very comfortable chairs, the 16 seats in the business class area offer exquisite service as well. Every single passenger receives a complimen-tary welcome drink. Meals and drinks can be or-dered a la carte and will be served at your seat. The generous space ensures a very comfortable travel experience. To upgrade from First to Business Class, a 15 Euro surcharge is required.

For travellers from Linz, the AIRail offer, which can be booked on www.austrian.com or your travel agents, was made even more attractive. The ticket machines at the travel centre at Linz Main Sta-tion let you check in and your boarding pass is also a ticket for your train-flight-connection. AIRail travellers can find their reserved seat in First Class and Economy Class trains.

DIRECTLY TO THE AIRPORT
The state capitals Bregenz, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Linz and St. Pölten have been offering direct connections to Vienna Airport since 2015. If you are coming from Graz, you can take one of the two daily di-rect railjet trains to the airport (RJ656 and RJ755).
OEBB offer a total of 51 daily direct connections between Salzburg and Vienna Airport.
The railjet trains takes you from Salzburg to Vienna Airport in 2 hours and 49 minutes.

The 17 travel centres on many Austrian train stations offer everything you need for a private or business trip by train. Because of the close cooperation with the Austrian Federal Railways, they offer interesting combinations on a regular basis. Rail Tours specialised on trips by train. Everything comes from one source and the traveller can benefit from one single contact person who takes care of virtually everything: the train tickets and the hotel at your destination.
