As Barcelona prepares for the 12th annual

Primavera Sound Festival, tourists looking to

attend the event are reserving their

one of the largest annual music festivals in Europe

and it is set to attract around 130,000 music

lovers to the Catalan capital.

The festival’s first edition in 2001 enjoyed the presence of 8,000 people. Since then, Primavera

Sound has grown in popularity and attendance, with 2011’s event bringing 123,000 fans to

Barcelona. This year, legendary band The Cure will be headlining the show, among other

notable artists such as Franz Ferdinand and Björk, meaning this 5-day musical extravaganza is

going to be one of the biggest yet.

It should come as no surprise that thousands of music fans flock to Barcelona for the

Primavera Sound Festival, which over the years has played host to many renowned bands such

as The Pixies, Sonic Youth, Portishead, Arcade Fire, My Bloody Valentine, and The White

Stripes.

Tom Robinson of the BBC described the 2011 edition of the event in his report as follows:

“Primavera Sound has gained a reputation for having the best line up of any music festival in

the calendar and this year was no exception.”
