Spanglish

Speaking Spanglish is about a young girl, Maica, who is on her way to Britain to spend a year studying English. Maica is from Barcelona. Her father is Catalan and her mother is English. On her way to London she meets Charlie who is travelling back to his home town Glasgow. The play follows Maica on her journey as she orders food, books herself into a hotel, tries to follow directions and starts English classes at the local school. She is constantly confronted with people’s stereotypes of Spanish people and finds that she has a lot of her own about British people. This is especially a problem in her relationship with Charlie. Can they overcome their differences and have a romance?
