Мъжът се връща от пазари в чантата какво ли носи?

The man is coming back from the market,And what is he carrying in his bag?

Oranges from Piraeus,Raisins and dates from Cyprus,

Lemons from EgyptAnd black dust from Eritrea.

Портокали от Пирея,стафиди и фурми от Кипър,

лимони от Египети черен прах от Еритрея.

А може би е сложил ощедве купички ориз от Виетнам,

индийско орехче,кутия пури от Хавана

и сребърна кама от Андалусия.

And maybe he has put there alsoTwo bowls of rice from Vietnam,

A nutmeg from India,A box of Havana cigars,

And a silver dagger from Andalusia.

On the bottom of the bag - a bottleOf tequila from midnight Mexico,

На дъното на чантата — шишетекила от среднощно Мексико,

консерва царевица от Америка,пакетче захар от Бразилия... 

Canned corn from America,A packet of sugar from Brazil...

But there is alsoCoffee from Ecuador,

Chinese tea and a clusterOf bananas from Columbia,

Но има същокафе от Еквадор,

китайски чай и снопбанани от Колумбия

и някакво миниатюрно слончеот Брега на слоновата кост,

и суши от Япония,

As well as a miniature elephantFrom Cote d'Ivoire,

And sushi from Japan,

And even half a lobster,Caught near Puerto Rico

By the fishermen...

и даже половин омар,уловен край Порто Рико

от рибарите...

Мъжът върви, от чантата приведен.На рамото му кацнал папагал

от Индонезия,а той под мишница е стиснал

една ирландска книга...

The man is walking, bent under the weight of his bag.A parrot is perched on his shoulder

From Indonesia,And under his arm he is holding tight

An Irish book...

Една пазарска чанта стигада побереш половината свят.А какво ти трябва за целия?

 

A shopping bag is enoughTo hold half the world in it.

And what would you need for the whole world?

Maybe a kiss on the threshold,Before you take the bag

And open the book.

Може би една целувка на прага,преди да поемеш чантата

и разтвориш книгата.

Заповядай половината свят,дай ми другата половина...

Welcome, half world,Give me the other half...
