Overview -

Jaipur is the capital city of Rajasthan state of India. It wasestablished in 1727 on 18 November by Amber’s ruler, MaharajaSawai Jai Singh II and bears the name of its founder. Tourist Places:

• Amber Fort: Built in Hindu- Muslim style, this fort dates back tothe times of Raja Man Singh. Named after Goddess Amba, itincludes the Sheesh Mahal, decorated with thousands of glasstiles.


• Jaigarh Fort: Offer spectacular views and houses the biggestcanon in the world.


• Nahargarh Fort: The smallest of 3 forts, it offers great views ofJaipur and Man Sagar Lake.


• City Palace: An example of both Rajput and Mughalarchitecture, it is a vast complex that stretches over 1/7 of thecity. It is divided into sprawling gardens, a collection of courtyardsand palatial buildings like Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal.


• Jai Mahal: Made of Rajput architecture, it is located at thecentre of Man Sagar Lake.


• Jantar Mantar: It is recognized as World heritage site byUNESCO and is one among several astronomical observatoriesset up by ruler, Maharaja Jai Singh.


• Hawa Mahal: Built as part of City palace, it was intended to beroyal women’s quarters (zenana). It is five storeys with 750windows.
