SDU Travels Pvt. Ltd.October 10th, 2010 was a significant day in the life of nine friends who had built a career in the travel industry. On this day, they came together to realize a collective vision of providing personalized, quality travel through ethical business practices; and so was born SDU Travels Pvt. Ltd., a travel company whose founders themselves are avid travelers.

This passion, led to the finding of interesting destinations with unique local experiences; discovering new points of interest, new things to do and a considerable knowledge about hotel quality. Having experienced the culture of the places visited they brought back a wealth of experiences - some, off the beaten track, but all in all truly enriching. OUR STORY


Rajasthan is the magnificent land of numerous kingdoms, majestic forts and palaces, diverse cultures, varied landscapes and vibrant colors.The name "Palace on Wheels" was derived from its royal back-ground of the coaches. A new meter gauge air conditioned Palace-on-Wheels was introduced in 1984 & had 13 Saloons, 2 Restaurant cum Kitchen car, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 Service Cars. The passenger coaches which were originally meant to be the personal railway coaches of the

erstwhile rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India. These coaches were not being used by the Indian Railways after independence in normal passenger trains on account of very rich and traditional interiors.


PALACE ON WHEELS – LAYOUT


In all, there are fourteen saloons, each equipped with two twin-bedded and two double-bedded chambers, with attached baths that have running hot and cold water and showers.. Outside the bedrooms, each coach also has a seating lounge where passengers can get together, just sit watch the cities as they glide past outside the windows, or enjoy a quiet cup of tea. An attached pantry with each saloon helps provide beverages and refreshments to the guest.

Each saloon has a mini pantry and a lounge to ensure availability of hot and cold beverage, and refreshments and a place to relax and get together.


The restaurants offer seating arranged in groups of twos and fours near the windows. Rajasthani ambience serving Continental, Chinese, India and local Rajasthani cuisines.
