The Australia Day Community Fair in January is always fun with lots of activities and entertainment for everyone. From late December and throughout January the nightly Portarlington Charity Carnival has entertainment, thrills and excitement for the whole family. February sees the Bellarine Sunset Run come to town. Catering for all ages and fitness levels, the run is held along the coastal trail between Portarlington and St Leonards. Also in February is the Wreck2Reef Open Water Swim at Indented Head which has different levels for different ages and fitness. The 2XU Triathlon is held annually in March, beginning from the Portarlington Pier. The March long weekend is time to enjoy the Bellarine Agricultural Show, with country hospitality and traditional country show entertainment. The June long weekend sees the National Celtic Festival bring colour and excitement to winter with local and international acts, market stalls and activities. Hooked on Bellarine is held in October and is jam packed with activities for the whole family, including fishing clinics and cooking demonstrations. Throughout the year there are regular activities such as parkrun every Saturday, and from October to May the Lions Portarlington Market is held on the last Sunday of the month with a variety of stalls, clothes, crafts, food, plants and treasures.
Northern Bellarine Coastal TrailGet up close and personal with nature on The Northern Bellarine Coastal Trail which spans the foreshore from Point Richards, through Indented Head and to St Leonards. Walk, run or cycle along its meandering path that takes you along the beach, across creeks and around salt marsh, passing a variety of significant markers including the Ozone wreck and Batman Memorial. Stop for a breather and learn about local history and landscapes from interpretive signs installed along the trail. Take your time, pack a picnic and watch an amazing sunset stretching across Port Phillip Bay.
Bellarine Taste TrailThe Bellarine Taste Trail Map is the perfect place to start your Bellarine food journey. Pick up a map from reception and discover the local delicacies and farm produce of the Bellarine Peninsula directly from the farm gate. Enjoy wine tasting, grab a bite to eat and don’t forget to pick up some locally-grown produce from the various traders as you discover the delightful small townships around the Bellarine Peninsula.
Port Phillip FerriesRunning daily between Portarlington and Docklands. Getting you to Melbourne in approximately 80 minutes. Use it for a day trip to Melbourne or it’s a great way to catch up with family and friends at either end. Enjoy the on board café, free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating. There’s access to the free CBD trams as soon as you hop off, or a short walk to Southern Cross Station. Keep an eye on their website for offers and special events. A timetable is available at reception.
Fishing / Boating / WatersportsThe Bellarine Peninsula is the ideal location to base yourself if the ocean calls your name. We have five boat ramps situated along our foreshore, one of which is located within the Portarlington Holiday Park for the exclusive use of holiday makers staying in the Park. With bay access right at your doorstep why not try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), snorkel the Ozone wreck at Indented Head, drop in a line or two from the Pier or just chill out and laze on the beach. Remember, if you are 18 to 69 years of age and plan to fish in the bay you will need to have a valid Victorian Recreational Fishing Licence. Drop into reception where we have a range of brochures about local charters, water sport hire and lessons, fishing regulations and local bait and tackle stores.
Note: Most of our beaches are shared zones. Please ensure you comply with all marine safety rules and respect other users. Marine safety rules for Port Phillip Bay can be found here: https://parkweb.vic.gov.au/park-management/bay-and-waterways-management/boating-zones
