Adjustable Locking Router Guide
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This Adjustable Locking Router Guide is a simple jig that allows you to use a handheld router on surfaces too large for a typical router table. It uses MATCHFIT Dovetail Hardware to quickly andeasilyadjusttofitthesizeofthematerial,andforvaryingrouterbasesizes.Thisisan excellent jig for routing the dovetail grooves on the MATCHFIT 360 Table.

INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1 - CUT THE STOCK TO SIZE -RiptwostripsofMDFlongwaysat2-½”wideonthetablesaw. Theyshouldfinishat2-½”wideand72”long.
-FromtheremainingMDF,riponepiecelongwaysdownto4”.Itshouldfinishat4”wideand72”long.
-Cuttwo12”longpiecesfromthe4”widestrip.

STEP 2 - ROUTE DOVETAIL GROOVES -Seta14degree,1/2”dovetailrouterbittoacuttingdepthof3/8”.Setyourroutertablefenceto1-¼”.
-Routedovetailgroovesinboth2-½”x72”strips.

STEP 3 - MEASURE AND DRILL HOLE SPACING FOR ROUTER BASES -Positionrouterbasebetweenlongstrips,makingsurestripsareparallelwithoneanother.
-Measurethedistancebetweentheoutsideedgesofthelongstrips.1-¼”infrombothsidesis the center of the dovetail grooves. That’s where you will drill your holes.
-Repeatprocessfordifferentsizedrouterbases,ifdesired.

STEP 4 - SQUARING AND CENTERING ROUTER -WithDovetailHardwareinstalled,slideedgestopuptoedgeofworksurface,tightenknobs, using a carpenter’s square to ensure that your guide is 90 degrees with the edge.
-Slideotheredgestopuptocontactotheredgeoftheworksurface,andtightenknobs.
- Secure guide by clamping down to work surface to avoid slippage.
-Thefirsttimeyouusetherouterguide,plungea1/2”routerbit3/8”deepintotheedgestop, then raise back up.
-Withoutmovingtherouterguide,changebittosmallv-groovebit.
-Plungev-groovebit½”deep,andadvancetowardwheretheedgestopmeets the work surface.
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 4 - SQUARING AND CENTERING ROUTER CONT.-Atitsdeepestpoint,drawalinewithaclearlyvisiblemarkertotheendoftheedgestop. This line is the center of the bit. Use it to line up with where you marked your cuts.
USING THE ROUTER GUIDE Alwaysmakesurethattheguideissquareandsecuredwithclamps,andyourrouteriscentered
with the center line marked on the edge stop to ensure accuracy.
