Before We Begin…

•  Re!exology is very safe; complementary with other treatments

•  Do one hour before or after eating •  Drink lots of water •  No alcohol; eat lighter and healthier •  Always start with excretory system

•  Don’t practice while pregnant, especially "rst trimester

•  During period, go light on reproductive points; avoid if heavy bleeding

•  CAUTION for acute heart condition, diabetes or compromised immune system

•  If you’re not sure, ask your doctor whether it is safe for you to practice re!exology

•  Letting go of disbelief and negative beliefs •  Go neutral "rst, then to supportive beliefs

Opening Your Mind to the Possibility

“My right knee gives me so much trouble. Sometimes I just want to cut it off!” @#%! 1.  Have awareness 2.  Go neutral 3.  Think supportive thoughts

Example – Shift Negative Belief Structures

•  Do I want to keep having problems with my knee? What would I rather have?

•  I would like my knee to get better. •  My other knee feels okay. •  I can still walk on my right leg. •  As my health gradually improves, it’s

possible my knee could improve too.

•  My knee has done a good job of supporting me for many years.

•  I love my knee for how much it has supported me in the past.

•  Just the thought of loving my knee is sending healing energy to it.

“I don’t believe I can do this because…” “I don’t believe I deserve this because…” 1.  Start with 0.01% possibility 2.  Expand possibility as it feels like truth

Example – Shift Disbelief

•  It is not entirely impossible for me to get better •  It’s not entirely impossible for me to "nd a few

minutes in a week to focus on my health •  It’s not entirely impossible that I could receive

money from an unexpected source •  Not everyone experiences hardships

Example – Not Impossible

•  It would be nice if I got better •  I would like to "nd a few minutes in a week to

focus on my health •  I would like to be able to afford this •  I’m not a bad person. Maybe I deserve a break.

Example – Neutral

•  I could get better and improve my health •  I could "nd a few minutes in a week or even

every day to focus on my health •  Maybe it’s possible I could afford this •  I’m a good person. I deserve this.

Example – Positive

•  If I did this every day, I’m sure I would improve my health.

•  If I cut out one TV show, I’d have 20 extra minutes a day to focus on my health.

•  Raises are at the end of this quarter. If I talk to my manager, I’m sure I’d get one.

Respiratory System

•  Consists of nasal cavity, trachea, bronchi and lungs

•  Primary function is respiration, the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide with the blood

NOSE POINT

Nose – Anatomy

•  Consists of bone and cartilage

•  Nasal cavity is located behind nose

Nose – Function

•  Warms, moistens and "lters air before it enters lungs

•  Contains special cells for smell

•  Dry air •  Allergens or irritants in air •  Excess mucous in the body •  Disharmony in Lung, Spleen, Kidney and/or Liver

•  Common cold •  Allergies •  Nasal polyps •  Deviated septum •  Nosebleeds

Nose – Associated Disorders

•  Louise Hay: –  Represents self recognition – Nosebleeds: Feeling unrecognized and

unnoticed. Crying for love. –  Runny: Asking for help. Inner crying. –  Stuffy: Not recognizing self-worth

•  4 pairs of cavities in the skull •  Middle of forehead above

eyes •  Between eyes •  Behind nasal cavity •  Behind cheeks

Sinus – Anatomy

•  Moisten and warm air we breathe •  Add resonance to voice •  Make skull lighter

Sinus – Functions

•  Dry air •  Allergens can trigger swelling •  Bacterial infection •  Changes in barometric pressure •  Anything that causes “internal heat” or drives

energy up into the head

•  Pharnyx – passageway from mouth and nose to esophagus and trachea

•  Larynx – voicebox and vocal cords

•  Trachea – windpipe for air

energy up into the head •  Holding back on expressing emotions and

thoughts

What Affects the Throat?

•  Sore throat •  Laryngitis •  Cancer

•  Throat chakra represents communication and self-expression

•  Holding back on communicating emotions or thoughts

•  Trachea connects to bronchi, branching into bronchioles

•  Clusters of alveoli (air sacs)

Lung – Anatomy

•  Plays important role in respiration •  Inhale air •  Exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide

between air and blood occurs in alveoli •  Exhale air

Lung – Function

•  Governs Qi and respiration •  Controls descending and dispersing •  Regulates water passageways •  Opens into the nose •  Controls skin and hair

Lung – TCM Functions

•  External pathogens •  Excessively dry or damp weather •  Excessive consumption of cold and raw foods,

greasy foods, dairy •  Worry, grief and sadness •  Poor posture •  Smoking

What Affects the Lungs?

•  Cold, !u, bronchitis, pneumonia •  Asthma •  Allergies •  COPD, emphysema •  Tuberculosis •  Lung cancer

•  In TCM, Lung meridian associated with emotions of sadness and grief
