Current status on SUMPs in Slovenia

• 77 municipalities (of 212) with SUMPs

• Updated National SUMP Programme

• Active NTF as driver (PROSPERITY, Care4Climate)

• involved in EU SUMP movement since 2004,

• limited role of government until 2010,

• SUMP proces 2010-2014,

• implementation process in 2014-2020.

Background

• Currently SUMP not legally binding or defined

• Municipalities encouraged to prepare them, funding

available for development and implementation

• Challenges with quality assurance, regional

cooperation, small / large municipalities, integration

with spatial plans and other documents

Need for SUMP law now recognized, but approach not

yet clear
