Physical Characteristics

• Protective coloring camouflages them from prey.

• Thick as a telephone pole.• Often over 20 feet long.• Eyes and nostrils are on top of head.

Behavioral Characteristics

• If bothered, bite deeply into flesh.• Hiss or fake a strike like a venomous snake.• Very accurate and dangerous hunter.

Habitat

• Swamps of South America.• Mostly in water but sometimes on land for

short periods of time.• Deep bodies of water.

Food preferences• They eat ducks.• Fish and small deer.

• They have six rows of teeth to hold their prey.• Called a water boa because they are mostly in
