John 213When it was almost time for theJewish Passover, Jesus went up toJerusalem.14In the temple courts he found menselling cattle, sheep and doves, andothers sitting at tables exchangingmoney.15So he made a whip out of cords, anddrove all from the temple area, bothsheep and cattle; he scattered the coinsof the money changers and overturnedtheir tables.16To those who sold doves he said, "Getthese out of here! How dare you turn myFather's house into a market!"17His disciples remembered that it iswritten: "Zeal for your house willconsume me."18Then the Jews demanded of him,"What miraculous sign can you show usto prove your authority to do all this?"19Jesus answered them, "Destroy thistemple, and I will raise it again in threedays."20The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and youare going to raise it in three days?"21But the temple he had spoken of washis body.22After he was raised from the dead, hisdisciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture andthe words that Jesus had spoken.

I Corinthians 118For the message of the cross isfoolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is thepower of God. 19For it is written: "I will destroy thewisdom of the wise; the intelligence ofthe intelligent I will frustrate."20Where is the wise man? Where is thescholar? Where is the philosopher ofthis age? Has not God made foolish thewisdom of the world?21For since in the wisdom of God theworld through its wisdom did not knowhim, God was pleased through thefoolishness of what was preached tosave those who believe.22Jews demand miraculous signs andGreeks look for wisdom,23but we preach Christ crucified: astumbling block to Jews and foolishnessto Gentiles,24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the powerof God and the wisdom of God.25For the foolishness of God is wiserthan man's wisdom, and the weaknessof God is stronger than man's strength.
