• Focus on: the experience of literature, the interpretation of literature and the evaluation of literature

Basic Objectives

• Identify Literary devices and explain how they create meaning in a particular text

• Develop a sophisticated writing and reading styles.

• Become familiar with literary theory and movements.

Types of Writing

• To Understand: Response and Reaction papers

• To Explain: Analysis, Interpretation, and

Explication papers: Language and Structure

• To Evaluate: Making and Explaining arguments and exploring social/ cultural value
