Directory of Regulatory Lawyers in K&L Gates Asia Pacific Offices
Regulations governing commercial transactions and operations in Asia Pacific are
developing at a rapid pace. Most will usually require some form of official approval,
potentially involving local and/or national government agencies. Authorizations,
approvals, certifications, licences, reporting requirements and a myriad of
regulatory obligations and restrictions have become a daily burden for companies.
K&L Gates’ Asia Pacific Regulatory group combines the knowledge, skills, languages and resources of our firm’s Asia Pacific offices in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and our India practice. Having grown up with the markets, our lawyers have local knowledge of business customs, language and networks. Our established team of regulatory lawyers represents clients that need to comply with the ever-increasing number of government policies and regulations. Not only do we help clients navigate these systems, but we have developed strong working relationships with central and local government authorities across the region, enabling us to bring their attention to operating facts and circumstances which are also taken into account as new regulations are developed.
Of course, we also understand that businesses may be adversely impacted by a wide spectrum of regulatory enforcement actions, including investigations into alleged breaches of the law, which may attract civil or criminal penalties, disqualification, reputational damage and personal liability for directors and other officers. In the face of these increased risks, it is essential that legal advice and representation is obtained at the earliest opportunity.
Our services include early advice on the best response strategy available, including whether an application should be made for any available immunity from criminal prosecution and/or civil penalty proceedings. With the increasing use by regulators of their compulsory powers to obtain information, ensuring the advice you receive is protected by legal professional privilege has never been more important.
This directory of our Asia Pacific regulatory capabilities provides a concise overview of K&L Gates’ regulatory lawyers located across the Asia Pacific region. The directory is structured by jurisdiction, and provides essential information on key areas of our regulatory practice along with details of key lawyers in each office. The objective of the directory is to assist clients looking for a specific capability and to facilitate efficient contact between those clients and the appropriate member(s) of our Asia Pacific Regulatory group.
