Matters arising from previous minutes:
• 16/02/15 - Kylie announced the club shall have its 40th anniversary on 17th October 2015.
o 20/07/2015 – Flyer has been distributed to club members. Good take up from club members so far. Reminder that places are limited, and cannot be reserved until payment has been made. Hard copies of flyer available tonight. Flyer will also be placed in local papers. Members are encouraged to pass on info to any past members they may know. Spread the word people!!
o 17/08/2015 – Update on 70th Anniversary. A story on the club is being prepared that will hopefully be run in the local papers.

Trip/Social Reports:
• Mick spoke on Bago Horse Endurance. Another successful event. Thanks to everyone who assisted.
• Mick spoke on the Wauchope 4WD Show. Another great event, with plenty of interest from the public. We raised $511 from gold coin donations that will be passed onto the Jim Bruce Prostate Cancer Trust. Thanks to everyone who assisted over the weekend. Special mention to Dave Walters for cooking up a storm, Mick Tout for his great organizational skills and Paul Weatherby and his daughter for helping out across all three days.
• Motion by Gavin Sharp to increase the donation amount to $1000. Second by Steve Towle. Motion carried. Karma Walters will arrange large novelty cheque to hand over. Pete Wilson will arrange hand over to the Jim Bruce Trust with invites to local media.
• Dave W talked about Christmas in July held recently at Tamworth club. 85 people were catered for in very cold conditions. Dave also attended the Winch Challenge recently and reported that the event was extremely interesting with some extreme 4WDing.
Events Committee Report (Upcoming events):
• James is running a Grade 2 - 3 mystery drive on Fathers Day, Sunday 6th September. Meet at the donut 8am for 8:30 departure. BYO smoko. Lunch will be at the Coopernook pub. There will be no ‘recce’ prior to this trip, so we will just see where we end up going. Limited facilities (toilets) on the day. Contact James on 0419 017 089 for more info or to reserve your place. See flyer elsewhere in newsletter.
• October long weekend – Gavin is running a camping trip to the Long Flat Pub over the October long weekend. Camping from Friday 2nd through Monday 5th October. There will be a day trip to the Cottan-Bimbang National Park on the Sunday with plenty of historic sites to discover. See flyer elsewhere in newsletter.
• Dave W is running a joint ‘Bushy’ trip with the Tamworth club at the end of October. More details to follow.
• Club Christmas party – Weekend of 5th & 6th December at Theo’s. Free camping available from Friday night through to Sunday. Santa will be making his regular appearance Saturday afternoon, and dinner will be provided Saturday evening. Cost TBA.
• Gavin is running a 3 week Victorian High Country trip to be held over the 2015 / 2016 summer. Departure date is Saturday 26th December, returning to Port around Saturday 16th January 2016. Trip is limited to 10 vehicles. First in best dressed. Additional details will be provided shortly. Contact Gavin to reserve your place or for more info.
TRIP IS FULL WITH 10 VEHICLES IN ATTENDANCE
• Ken Towle is running a Grade 3, four week trip along the Hay River track (Simpson desert) departing 26th / 27th June 2016. Trip will be via Broken Hill, Flinders Ranges, Maree (for the camel races), then up the Birdsville Track, Warburton Track, Poeppel Corner, Hay River Track to Jervois, then West on the Plenty Highway and back towards home. You will need a $150 SA desert Parks Pass + a $200 Hay River Track permit. Need fuel for approximately 800kms in desert running. Max 10 vehicles. Driver Awareness Report: - Richard Couell.
• Basic club 4WD familiarization course will be run on Sunday 13th September. Please contact Richard if you would like to participate.
• Richard advised that the Basic DTU course is available to be undertaken on Saturday 10th October 2015. Course will be run on the Central Coast, BUT, if we get a few more people, they will be able to relocate the training to the Port Macquarie area. We already have several people undertaking the Basic course, so please contact Richard if you are interested in attending. Cost is around $90 + cost of booklet. Advanced DTU course will also be available in the future (recall that the Basic DTU course is a pre-requisite for the Advanced course). Both are nationally accredited courses and are highly recommended. You will learn a lot!! Contact Richard for more info.
Forestry Report: - Steve Towle.
• Forestry advised a lot of burn offs at the moment. Be aware of smoke hazards.
• Also be aware of logging trucks in Bago forest and surrounding areas.
Delegates Report: - Mark & Jane Heydon / Luke Clout
• Luke Clout attended the August meeting in Canberra. Report at next meeting.
• Mark & Jane are planning on attending the February meeting.
General Business:
• Gavin reported Hastings Forest Way has been reopened after major remediation works.
• Dave W advised Theos is now fully fenced and you need to pass through a gate to access the campground. Please make sure you leave the gate as you found it.

Photo Competition Information INTRODUCTION
It has been decided that the photo competition will finalise on 17 September 2015. Following this, members will have 1 month to vote via the website by logging into the Members section.
I would encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the Members section and make sure that they can log in well before 17 September 2015.
The winner of each category will be announced at the 40th anniversary dinner to be held on October 17. A price will also be awarded.
DETAILS The competition consists of six (6) categories:
• Landscape • Nature • Black & White • Humour • People, and • 4WD action
Each member can submit one (1) entry per category, thus a potential of six (6) entries per member is possible.

Trip Notes • Please remember to notify the Trip Leader at least 48 hours prior to confirm that you plan on attending a trip to
avoid being left behind or in case the trip has been cancelled for some reason!
Trip Gradings 1. Scenic drive, little or no 4WDing.
2. Scenic with plenty of basic, easy 4WDing and some tricky sections.
3. Medium 4WDing on well used trails with little or no overgrowth.
4. Medium 4WDing on little used and overgrown trails.
5. Difficult hands on 4WDing. Recovery gear essential.
Minimum Vehicle Requirements (AT ALL TIMES) • Vehicles must be fitted with a UHF CB radio.
• Vehicles must carry a snatch strap.
• Rated D shackles must be carried.
• Tow hooks must be fitted front and rear

Father’s Day 2015 FATHERS DAY DRIVE
TO COOPERNOOK PUB
WHEN: Sunday 6th September WHERE: Meet at the Donut. 8am for 8:30am departure. DRIVE DETAILS: Grade 2 - 3 drive. There will be no ‘recce’ prior to this trip, so we will just see where we end up
going. Limited facilities (such as toilets) on the day. HIGHLIGHTS: Treat Dad to an exciting day out exploring some of our local tracks and features, followed by a
tasty pub lunch, and possibly a couple of cooling beverages. LUNCH: Following our drive, we will be having lunch at the Coopernook pub. After lunch, make your way

October Long Weekend – Long Flat Pub Camping OCTOBER LONG WEEKEND
LONG FLAT PUB CAMPING & DAY DRIVES AROUND LOCAL AREA
WHERE: Camping out the back of the Long Flat Pub, down by the Hastings River, about 1 hour West of
Port Macquarie on the Oxley Highway. WHEN: Friday 2nd October through Monday 5th October (October Long Weekend).
Sharp family will be departing from the Donut at 9am Friday. Meet at the McDonalds carpark at 8:45. If you cannot make this, then make your own way out the Oxley Highway to the township of Long Flat. Pub is on the right hand side as you enter town. Make your way to the camping area down behind the pub, down by the river.
CAMPING DETAILS: We will be free camping behind the Long Flat pub. Pit toilets are on site. No showers, though
the Hastings River is at your doorstep. No power. Fires are OK (we will be doing a firewood run Friday afternoon). General store is across the road, and the pub can provide meals.
ACTIVITIES: Friday afternoon we will be gathering firewood and generally setting up camp. Friday night is
self cater (or dinner at the pub if you prefer). Saturday morning, we will be undertaking a Grade 2 day drive to some of the local attractions. Expect waterfalls& lookouts. BYO lunch. Back to camp in time for showers, happy hour and the AFL grand final at the pub. Dinner is self cater (or at the pub if you prefer). Sunday we set off early for a run up thorough Cottan-bimbang National Park. We will be visiting many rarely seen attractions, including old timber cutting ruins, WWII history and parts of the original Oxley Highway. Drive will be mainly Grade 2, but some areas may be Grade 3. BYO morning tea and lunch. Back to camp for showers and happy hour. Dinner tonight is up at the pub. Cost TBA, before sitting back to watch the NRL grand final on the big screen. Monday morning, pack up and head home at your leisure.

These will be available in Magenta, Purple & Navy and Pete will be coordinating the orders so please refer to the below pictures for sizing or you can see Pete to try your size.
