Azure Cloud Services – Overview Presentation
© Arbela Technologies Corp www.ArbelaTech.com @ArbelaTech 2
Azure and cloudIn this session you will learn that Azure has much more to offer than just infrastructure services. We will cover how Azure can be utilized for integration services (Azure App Services), document services (Azure Document DB), Web/Mobile Apps, Machine Learning and more. The goal is to provide an overview of services and how they may apply to your implementations today.

Multi-Tenant vs. Single Tenant
• Single Tenant• Single instance running for a single company• Unique O/S, DB, Application for each company• More flexibility, more secure, more work to maintain• Think Applications on your laptop
• Multi Tenant• Single instance shared across multiple companies• Single Update to update the whole software ecosystem• Less Flexible, Less Secure, Easier to maintain• Think Hotmail or Gmail

Cloud Options – Hybrid Approach
Hybrid Approach allows for certain utilization of cloud functionality such as:• For Production Environment Support• Disaster Recovery (DR)• User General Support• Training
• Core Environment Management• For non-production or development environments (Dev, Test)• Backup• Maintenance
• Business Intelligence & Reporting

Virtual Machines
• Cloud basic building blocks• Full control over virtual machines
with virtual hard disks• Install and run software yourself• Nearly identical to traditional on
premise servers and virtualization• Easiest way to move existing
workloads to the cloud• Scale additional instances on-
demand or automatically based on load• Only pay for what you use

• Much like VM’s they are their own isolated boxes• However unlike VM’s that require an OS for each VM –
containers can leverage the same OS• Used to isolate multiple applications running on the same
server

Cloud Services
• Services that run in the cloud• Access & manage general purpose VM’s• ERP deployments
• Dev, Test, Demo right from LCS or Azure Marketplace
• Web Roles• Customized for each web application as
supported by IIS & ASP.NET – usually front end users
• Worker Roles• General development, long running tasks
• Can be accessed via Remote Desktop, Remote App or via Web Client

• Identity and security management in the cloud• Enables hybrid
authentication between cloud and on premise through trusted domains• Enables single sign-on across
the enterprise from your AD account (oAuth, o365, local AD domain, WebEx, Skype, SalesForce, Box, CRM, global domains and many more)

App Services
• Web Apps• Mobile Apps• Logic Apps• API Management• Notification Hubs• Load Balanced• Instance scaling

ThyssenKrupp – Service powering by Azure AnalyticsChallenge• ThyssenKrupp Elevator maintains more
than 1.1 million elevators worldwide, including those at some of the world’s most iconic buildings. ThyssenKrupp wanted to better compete in its industry by offering dramatically increased uptime, taking preventive maintenance a step further to predictive and even pre-emptive service.
Solution• ThyssenKrupp teamed up with Microsoft to
create a connected asset monitoring system based on Microsoft Azure IoT services that connects thousands of sensors and systems in its elevators to the cloud and draws this data into a dashboard available on PCs and mobile devices for a real-time view of key performance indicators.
Benefits• Increases reliability through predictive
maintenance and rapid, remote diagnostic capabilities
• Reduces costs for ThyssenKrupp and its customers
• Rich, real-time data visualization• Data continually feeds into dynamic
predictive models• Two-way flow of data enables diagnostics
mode and remote elevator commands
