Principal’s Message
Term 1, Weeks 3 and 4
What a wonderful start we have had to the year. Our students are happy, keen to learn and considerate of
other students. They have enjoyed playing a variety of games during break times and have scoured the school
grounds for a variety of mini-beasts before putting them into magnified containers to study them closer. Handball
draws have been designed and we look forward to starting the BPS Handball Competition soon. New games and
resources have been ordered and are arriving daily to ensure our students are engaged and socialising during
breaks. A new badminton and volleyball net has introduced students to both games and they are all doing
exceptionally well at them.
Learning continues to happen with reading and number being a focus this fortnight. Students have been
engaged in lessons on which plants and animals are classified as being friend or foe. They have looked at the Loch
Ness Monster and researched the phenomena behind Burning Mountain in Wingen.
This week we have welcomed some new faces. We have seen a returning staff member come back to
Blackville as well as a new student. We welcome a new family who has also joined our P and C. How lovely to have
some new faces in our meetings. We welcome anyone else who would like to form part of this amazing P and C.
Finally, it has been wonderful to see the rain falling around our region. I sincerely hope you have received
significant amounts where you are. Let’s hope it continues for the rest of 2020!

School. Ava is in Year One and has settled in nicely with the rest of the students. We hope
you enjoy your time with us at Blackville Public School Ava!
Welcome back Mrs Williams
We have also welcomed back to our school Mrs Williams. Mrs Williams has
fond memories of teaching at Blackville Public School before moving to Sydney
and more recently New Zealand. We are very excited to have Mrs Williams on our
team as she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience. Mrs Williams
will be working Wednesdays to Fridays until the end of the year. Please feel free
to call in and say hello.
Genius Hour
Thank you to our parents who have offered to undertake Genius Hour again this year. We have allocated
weeks for the year and look forward to having you in our classrooms passing on your knowledge to both students
and staff.

Student cards will be distributed soon which will allow them to enter at no cost.
