BT30 Instructions for useBiological indicator for Dry Heat sterilization

TUBE A

Identify TUBE A writing the sterilizer Nº, load Nº and processing date on the indicator label.

Pack the biological indicator along with the material for sterilization.

Do not sterilize TUBE B.

Sterilize as usual.

Once the sterilization processhas finished, verify that IB labelcolor has changed to brown.Let the IB cool down.

Break TUBE B ampoule with the crusher in BIONOVA® IC10/20 incubator or with an ampoule crusher.

Remove and discard the cap of TUBE B under sterile environment or laminar flow.

Remove the cap of TUBE Aand discard the tube.

Put TUBE A cap inside TUBE Bin such a way that the sporespaper carrier gets in contactwith the culture medium.IMPORTANT! Make sure thecarrier does not get in contactwith the exterior side of thetube or any other surface.

Close the cap tightly.

Place the processed IB in the incubator.IMPORTANT! Use a non-sterilized biological indicator as a positive control each time aprocessed indicator is incubated.

Incubate at 37±2 ºC for 48 hs. maximum.

If after incubation the color of the growth indicator medium has not changed, the result is NEGATIVE, thus, the sterilization process is EFFICIENT.

If after incubation the color of the growth indicator medium has changed to yellow,the result is POSITIVE, thus, the sterilization process HAS FAILED.

Record the results and discard the tube immediately according to your country's healthcare and safety regulations.
