Why do we need the cell cycle?

• The cell cycle ensures that the number of chromosomes in body cells always remains constant.

• Chromosome # varies based on species:– Dogs = 78– Tomatoes = 24– Humans = 46

Making a Graph

• Both the x and y axis need a label• Both the x and y axis need units• The graph needs a title• Data points should be visible and neat

Normal Cell Replacement

• Cells don’t live forever, must be replaced

• Die when the cell receives instructions to do so

• Mitosis and cell division replace dead cells

Regeneration•Repair of injured cells or the making of lost body parts.
