Mission Statement
“To facilitate, advocate and cultivate opportunities for the Lisle Area Business Community”
CHAIR MESSAGE It is hard to believe that we are already through the first month of 2017. January has been a very busy month with the State of the County Luncheon with DuPage County Board Chairman, Dan Cronin, the State of the Village Luncheon presented by Mayor Joe Broda, Village of Lisle and the Multi-Chamber Breakfast at the College of DuPage with Dr.
Ann Rondeau, President of College of DuPage. February will be even bigger and probably the most exciting (except for July’s Golf Outing) because February 10th is the annual Chamber Dinner Dance at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville. If you have not done so already be sure to register for “Lisle Roy-ale”, Dancing with the Chamber Stars. You will not want to miss this action-packed evening with Great Dancers, Great Food and Great Fun. I’m looking forward to seeing you there. Please check out our new and improved website www.lislechamber.com for all of the exciting events that the Chamber has to offer to you the members. We encourage you to take advantage of all those opportunities; including Ribbon Cuttings, Business After Hours and Membership Luncheons. Don’t forget to join a committee such as Golf Outing, and get involved in your Chamber! See you on February 10th.

CHAMBER NEWS
Let’s talk about starting the New Year off with a bang. We had the State of the County Luncheon with Dan Cronin, the State of the Village Luncheon with Mayor Broda, a Multi-Chamber Breakfast with the College of DuPage President, Dr. Ann Rondeau and a Ribbon Cutting at JCMP & Associates. We had over 350 Chamber members meet with other Chamber members in one month. And now we are planning our largest fundraiser of the year. “Lisle Royale,” a James Bond inspired Dancing with the Chamber Stars, and Casino
themed event on Friday, February 10, 2017. The Hilton Lisle/Naperville will be transformed into a James Bond-like Casino and a five star meal of filet and shrimp with a Lisle Royale cake. They are offering a $69.00 room rate for the event. We are thankful for so many auction items donated by you our members. As I have mentioned in the past we have a newer website which expands the opportunities for our members to be seen in more places. We have a Member-to-Member discount page so please visit this page and if you would like to add a discount for your business just give us a call or send it to our email and we will put it up right away. We also have a Job Search page which gives you our member a free opportunity to post your job and find the right person for your business. Our scholarship luncheon will be on May 18, 2017 so please visit our website for the application for your student. They must be a Lisle resident or be a son/daughter of a Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce business member. On February 3rd, William Strauss of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago will speak at a 16 Chamber luncheon and Expo at Ashyana Banquets in Downers Grove. Call us to reserve your seat. Last year we had over 500 attendees attend this event. The Government Affairs committee will be hosting a Candidate Forum at Village Hall on March 23, 2017 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Invitations to all of the candidates were mailed last week. The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce is non-partisan, nonsectarian and therefore makes no endorsements. We are proud to present these forums as a public service. The local election for Mayor, Clerk and three Village Trustees will be on April 4, 2017. Happy Valentine’s Day!

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT - Celeste Bermejo Celeste Bermejo of New York Life Insurance is this month’s featured Ambassador. Celeste is a Financial Services Professional going into her 3rd year with New York Life Insurance. She helps families and business owners grow and protect their wealth as well as promoting financial literacy. Prior to New York Life, she was in Human Resources as a Regional Benefits and Retirement Specialist for a hospital system. By transitioning to New York Life Insurance she has been enabled to help more people instead of only being able to assist employees with understanding their benefits and retirement options. Her mission personally and professionally is to leave people better than she found them, even just a compliment goes a long way to make someone's day. Celeste joined the Chamber in October 2016 and attended her first Ambassador
meeting in November 2016. She hasn’t had a chance to fully participate in other committees yet but she is looking forward to being an active member of the Chamber. The Ambassador Committee allows her to enjoy welcoming new people and businesses to the Chamber. It also her to be a resource for new members as well as being a familiar face at various events. She resides in Bolingbrook with her two dogs, Lucy and Roxie. Every month she focuses on doing and/or learning something new. For January, she has been able to swim with whale sharks, snorkel in the South China Sea and canoe to secret lagoons. She is looking forward to what 2017 will bring. Celeste feels that with any Chamber, you get what you put into it. Play an active role and the results will follow. “Dream big, work hard, stay focused & surround yourself with good people.”
