created in 1945 to correct the problems of the League of Nations

Following World War 2, India & many nations of Africa & Southeast Asia began to rebel (peacefully in most cases) from their imperialist countries & gain their independence.

Dramatic Changes for Japan During WW2, Japan attempted to

expand to gain territory & power

Japan’s defeat was humiliating, the economy was hurt, & country was

destroyed by 2 atomic bombings

A new Japanese Constitution was created that took power from the emperor & created a democracy
