• Constant 13 digits for all models • Each digit represents a particular option • Consistent from model to model

442XQAHX-W3XD The first 3 digits represent the model number. • 442, 447, 489 & 880 Series are examples of mechanical shift model numbers • 230/231, 270/271 and 277/278 Series are examples of Powershift models • 941 Series is an example of a split shaft model • 626/645 Series are examples of geared adapters • CAT-D and 541 Series are examples of rear mounts

442XQAHX-W3XD • The 4th digit signifies the case style • There are 5 possible case options for mechanically

shifted P.T.O.s - X signifies the standard housing for the 442 and

447 models - Z signifies the deep mount housing for the 442

and 447 - G signifies the standard housing w/ metric stud kit

for the 442, 447, and 489 models - K stands for a standard housing less the stud kit - L means deep mount housing less the stud kit

442XQAHX-W3XD • The 5th digit signifies the Speed Ratio of the P.T.O. • The closer to the end of the alphabet the 5th digit is, the FASTER the P.T.O. output shaft will turn • For specific speeds, consult the Chelsea HY25-3000/US Applications catalog 442XQAHX-W3XD • The 6th and 7th digits are the input gear designators • These digits are the key that will tell you if a particular input gear will mesh with the driver gear in a

specific transmission NOTE: The General Information section in the HY25-3000/US catalog contains a breakdown of all the 2

digit gear designators. This breakdown includes info on Make(s) of transmission each designator is typically found on.

442XQAHX-W3XD • The 8th digit calls out the lubrication option

- This digit can only be either an X (standard) or a P (pressure lube) - Pressure lubrication must be specified whenever the P.T.O. aperture is higher than the oil level of

the transmission • All Allison transmissions have the P.T.O. aperture above the oil level of the transmission • Therefore the pressure lubrication option is required for any P.T.O. that is going to be installed on

an Allison 442XQAHX-W3XD • The 9th digit is a dash and must be present

- A = Air - V = Air less installation - W = Cable shift - M = Constant mesh - P = Electric over air (12 volt)

- Q = Electric over air (24 volt) - H = No shifter cover - X = Wire (less cable and knob) - S = P.T.O./Dump Pump combo valve - T = P.T.O. & Combo Valve less kick out & neutral return

output shaft when the P.T.O. is mounted on the transmission and the P.T.O. is engaged • Which assembly arrangement you need is determined by:

- Where the P.T.O. driver gear is located - towards the front or towards the rear of the transmission - Which way the P.T.O. output shaft must point - to the front or rear of the vehicle

• The 3 assembly arrangement is the most commonly used • When a different arrangement is called for, it’s possible to change any arrangement into any other in

just a few minutes by changing the positions of the internal components

driveshaft or a direct mount pump flange • XD signifies an 1-1/4" keyed round shaft and is used for mounting a driveshaft to the P.T.O. It’s

the most common and popular output option 442XQAHX-W3XK • The XK output is a popular direct mount pump flange. It fits an S.A.E. Class B pump (4" pilot with

either 2 or 4-Bolt mounting) and has a 7/8" 13 tooth splined shaft

• The 890 family of Power Take-Offs (P.T.O.) all install in the same manner to the transmission. The main difference will be the mounting plate that is used to attach the P.T.O. output section to the rear of the transmission case. Refer to the chart below for P.T.O. Series and Mounting Codes for information on your P.T.O.

• Several important things to remember - Mounting Options (Brackets) are Unique to

Transmissions - Output Flanges are Dependent on mounting

location of P.T.O. and transmission model
