the organization (Nov 2013 and July 2014)• Initial Focus on Mission and Vision• Consulted NAs, Chapters and international

volunteers for input • Follow-up interviews with representative group

of Chapters and NAs• Values were not part of this Consultation, to be

done at Global Conference with all delegates

Recommendations on Mission

• Keep the Statement of Purpose and call it the Mission

It’s well known, well liked and well used• Needs member approval (2/3 yes vote) to

formally adopt this as our mission statement• Planning on a virtual vote in May, after

feedback at Regional Meetings• In future, we may need review our legal

documents to make sure everything is in-line

- 6 people felt nothing was missing- Education- Friendship- Leadership- Realistic:

o Are the numbers attainable? In what time frame?

o Does it accurately describe what we do and how we do it?

- Emotion / Inspiration / Passion- Diversity: Does not address the full

breadth of our members or our impact- Other concerns about length and

clarity

- 10 People felt nothing should be removed- Numbers:

o Over 45 responses mentioned the numbers/statistics used

o too specifico concerns about our ability to

measure our impact in the community over all (beyond membership)

o belong in a mission or goal, not a vision

- people seemed very uncomfortable with the word “Movement”
