1914: 1^ migration wave from Germany, then from Poland…Italy (until 1956), then Spain…

In the seventies: from a mining area to an industrial one

• 4 th industrial city in Belgium

• 63.000 people, 15% from other countries, 70% from another ethnic group

• 16% jobless

Lots of families are from Turkey and Marocco

The main school aim:Feeling good, safe and relaxed
