Answer this question:
Why Mandarin immersion?
Tina “Mrs. B”-Principal1. My race is Chinese, ethnicity is Chinese-American, and my
nationality is American.
2. I helped launch the Mandarin Dual Language program in 2011 in the same year that I had my first child.
3. This is my 21th year in education, 6th year as Jing Mei’s Principal.
4. What drives me to do my best: It takes a village to raise a child and I want to make sure our students have access to caring adults in and outside of their homes.
Dongmei “Ms. Tan”-Assistant Principal
1. I am Chinese-American. I have two daughters and we live in a
multi-lingual family household.
2. This marks my 14th year serving in education, and my 9th year at
JM.
3. I believe in dual language education and its power to help our
children to become more productive global citizens starting as
young as in pre k and elementary school age.

How do we work together?
OUR ROLE
Provide a common curriculum that
aligns with BSD standards
Help your child understand the
connection between Mandarin and English
Create learning experiences that
allow for each student to feel
successful as an individual learner and team learner
Incorporate cultural and character
education throughout our
curriculum
YOUR ROLE
Ask yourself what you want your
child to learn from school
Set measurable goals with your
child
Check-in daily
Celebrate your child’s successes
often
Communicate with us
The Bellevue Schools Foundation: Because Basic ≠ Best
BSF exists because a State-funded education does not provide the schooling
our children deserve, nor the robust, high-quality life preparation our
community demands.
