Interferometric geometrical control
The geometry of the connectors (the ferrule) are tested according to IEC 61755-3-1 (PC) and
IEC 61755-3-2 (APC). The tests are performed at type approval and by sample tests, using an
interferometer. Geometry deviations from standard can cause bit errors. For critical systems,
we are now capable of delivering entire orders or part of orders with interferometric
certificate. Please contact us for details.

AXAI, AXXI:
If more than 24 fibres they are organized in several layers. The first layer is placed in the middle of the cable. Each layer is separated with tape.
QXXI and micro cable (Draka: Nano A-DQ2Y):
If there are many tubes they may be organized in several groups. The first group will then be in the middle of the cable. Each group will start
with red, green, etc.
NB! Other types of cable may have other colour codes — if so follow those codes.
NB! Some other cable types may use patterns with more speckles (in stead of layers) to mark more than 24 fibres.

Description The pre-terminated cable is delivered with connectors at one or both sides. The cable is prepared for installation in FOSS FP70 and FP80
panel* - 1 m of the fibre is protected by a spiral cable wrap and may therefor be placed under the drawer. This simplifies maintenance
because it enables you to take the drawer out of the panel (without loosening the fibres from their guides).
As an option the connector sides of the cable may be protected with a flexible tube. This is often used if this side needs to be pulled for a long
distance. Outside this tube an optional cable pulling grip may be placed if the cable shall be pulled through tubes.
* cable for FP60 may be delivered on request

Description A manifold is attached at the end of the cable to fan out the fibres in a controlled way. Each fibre is individually protected by a 3.0 mm tube.
The tactical cable may be delivered on a ruggedized cable reel. A wide selection of reels with stand are available, see separated data sheet for
details.
As an option the connector side of the cable may be protected with a flexible tube. This is often used if this side needs to be pulled for a long
distance. Outside this tube an optional cable pulling grip may be placed if the cable shall be pulled through tubes.
Dust caps attached to the cable may also be delivered.

Description The digital broadband technology within the fibre to the home segment is evolving rapidly. To
be able to offer services with the quality expected by the customer, cables and components
used must have the necessary quality.
When running cable in a house the cable may be exposed to more severe bends than are
normal in other parts of the network. This requires a fibre that is more insensitive to these
types of effects. In the Subscriber patch cord/Subscriber cable a single mode fibre according to
ITU-T G.657.A2 is used which meets these requirements.
There are two variants:
Subscriber patch cord White cable with a connector in both ends. Suited for
connecting wall outlet and the home central.
Subscriber cable White cable with connector in one end. The connector is either
connected to the wall outlet or directly to the home central.
The other end is typically spliced to the incoming cable (from
the broadband supplier) in an external subscriber box.
Subscriber cable
w/0.9 mm ending White cable with 1 or 2 fibres and connector(s) in one end.
Terminated side have a stripped ending of 65cm with 0.9 mm
fibre. This enables fibre storage inside the wall outlet or home
central. The connector is either connected to the wall outlet or
directly to the home central. The other end is typically spliced
to the incoming cable (from the broadband supplier) in an
external subscriber box.
The subscriber cable is meant for indoor use, but may also be used outdoors for a short
distance. Outdoor it should be put on the wall (not on/in the ground), also make sure that
water is prevented from coming into the cable-end. The cable is UV-resistant, but there may
be some miscolouring over time.

Description
We deliver cables with MTP in both ends and fan-out cables or modules for converting from MTP to LC or SC. The MTP connector has 12 or 24
fibres in each connector. It comes as female (without guide pins) or as male (with guide pins). Cables for cross connecting and fan-out cables
will normally be female, while modules will be male. If 2 MTP connectors are connected in an adapter one must be male and the other female.
Controlling polarity is always important, making sure that correct fibre end up where it should be. Especially with many fibres in each
connector as it is here, it is convenient with a standard system. Several ways of handling polarity when using MTP connectors are defined. The
most common way is called method A. This method gives you a “one-to-one” connection of the fibres through the system. The MTP cable
used is then called polarity A. Equipment delivered by Foss is using this method as standard, but other varieties may be ordered.
For direct connection between electronics cables with polarity B (12-pin/40G) or polarity X (24-pin/100G) is used.
This is described in more detail in Appendix: Polarity.

The geometry of the connectors (the ferrule) are tested at type approval and by sample tests,
using an interferometer. Geometry deviations from standard can cause bit errors. For critical
systems, we are now capable of delivering entire orders or part of orders with interferometric
certificate. Please contact us for details.

Appendix: Polarity Method A gives you a “one-to-one” connection of the fibres through the system. It is easy to implement, but requires 2 different patch cords
in each end.
MTP connectors/adapters The connectors comes in two versions:
Also the adapter comes in 2 versions:
For method A only adapters with "key-up to key-down" are used.
Patch cords 2 types of double patch cords are defined:
Double patch cords - straight:
Double patch cords - crossed:
For method A one of each type patch cord are needed - one in each end. When using LC– or SC-connectors you will normally order crossed
patch cords for all connections. Then you will open the clip on one side and switch the connectors at installation. In that way you avoid
keeping track of storing the correct type before installing. Straight patch cords may also be delivered.

Method A
Method A means using cables and path cords in a “one-to-one” configuration as shown in the figure. You only have to make sure to use a
crossed patch cords in one end and a straight patch cords in the other end.
Because the decision of using crossed patch cord is done at installation the method is flexible with regards to type of equipment connected
and number of fibres used (e.g. 3 fibres for video). The method also means using the same modules/MTP-cables (fan-out) in both ends.

Direct connection
There are mainly 2 cases where you will need other MTP-cables than polarity A.
Direct connection between electronics (Tx to Rx):
For 24-pin/100G you will need an MTP cable with polarity X as shown below.
For 12-pin/40G you will need an MTP cable with polarity B also shown below.
Extending the cable:
To extend a cable - or a connection in a panel - without changing the polarity of the system around you may use a "key up to key down"
adapter with:
MTP cable with polarity X for 24-pin (as shown below)
MTP cable with polarity A for 12-pin (as shown on the former page).
MTP-cable with polarity X used directly between electronics.
