About the organizers
Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) has joined hands with Defence Innovators and Industry Association (DIIA), New Delhi to organize a full day seminar on Opportunities for SMEs in Defence Sector. Keeping in tune with the 'Make in India' initiative by Government of India, the Defence Ministry has opened gates for private sector which has created abundant opportunities for SMEs. It is to shed light on this green pasture, VIA - Nagpur and DIIA - Delhi have jointly organized this seminar. The objective of the seminar is to communicate to the SMEs in the region, the immense potential / opportunities emerging in the Defence sector. These opportunities are not just limited to Defence suppliers but also for the companies in the field of IT, engineering, electronics, precision components, sheet metals, castings, forging, plastics, etc. These SMEs have the opportunity of becoming a part of the supply chain catering to Defence establishments in India. There also exist opportunities under offset clause for SMEs to partner with overseas Defence players. The Seminar is designed to be highly interactive and will delve upon the many facets of private involvement in Defence sectors. All queries and doubts put forth by SMEs will be entertained and answered in complete detail to make the process easy and transparent.

industries association. VIA works towards the promotion and harnessing of balanced industrial development and tirelessly encourages entrepreneurial spirit through its efforts which include organizing informative and interactive events.
Defence Innovators and Industry Association (DIIA)A non-profit organization, Defence Innovators and Industry Association (DIIA) champions the view point that self-sufficiency in Defence can be achieved through strong government policies that pro-actively encourage indigenous R&D. It provides a platform for like-minded organizations to rally around, collaborate and co-operate to forge ahead in making 'Make in India' a sustainable initiative. The organization believes that indigenously designed, developed and manufactured products should be given higher preference than the products that are manufactured under Transfer of Technology (ToT), whether licensed or bought-out technology. This aspect of encouraging and promoting indigenous R&D has never been actively pursued by any industry association till date. However, it is an undeniable fact that many Indian companies, particularly SMEs, have been spearheading intense R&D efforts to indigenize Defence sub systems and even complete equipment. These initiatives and success stories need to be converted to fruitful business contracts which not only help the companies sustain themselves but aids the nation in attaining the much needed strength in matters concerning self reliant Indian Defence industry. This is one of the major ideological view point that DIIA stands for and is attempting to promote.
Industries attached to Defence Sector, Ancillary Units, Start ups Consultants. Industries in search of diversification opportunities like IT, Engineering, Electronics, Precision Components, Sheet Metals, Castings, Forgings, Plastics, Chemicals, Technical Textiles /Garment Manufacturing, etc.
