Teaching staff with industry experience
You will be taught by Sheffield Hallam academics with internationally recognised qualifications and vast teaching experience. Our courses are designed in collaboration with international employers and professional bodies, including ACCA, to ensure the modules offered are up-to-date and market relevant. Our staff have strong links with local, national and international businesses and will share their experiences with you in the classroom so you will learn about real-life businesses and international professional practice.
Three months study and cultural experience in one of the UK’s most student friendly cities
Sheffield is one of the safest and most affordable cities in the country. It is the study destination of choice for more than 50,000 students because it’s a vibrant and friendly city. It is located in the centre of the UK so it is easy to travel to other cities and is only one hour from Manchester and two hours from London by train.
Our dedicated International Student Support Team is ranked number one in the UK (for student satisfaction in the Student Barometer, autumn 2013) and provides a range of support services for our international students. They can answer any questions before you travel to Sheffield and when you arrive at our Meet and Greet Desk. Access to industry-standard facilities and resources
During your time in Sheffield you will gain access to all of the facilities and resources available to Sheffield Hallam students. Tourism and hospitality students will have access to specialist facilities which replicate those used in the workplace. We recently invested £3.5 million into a purpose-built restaurant kitchen, student training facilities, a presentation suite and product development area.
The University has a learning centre at each campus which is open 24 hours, 365 days a year. The learning centre has more than 1,000 computers and access to more than 500,000 books and 4 million journal articles. Among the library resources are an extensive range of corporate administration professional books and ebooks, journals, and major industry databases including Passport, Mintel and Keynote.
Innovative teaching and assessment
Our innovative teaching, learning and assessment techniques will help you develop your communication, organisation, presentation, time management and group work skills which are required in the workplace.
The course uses a mix of traditional and innovative teaching methods which include lectures, seminars, IT labs and workshops which will help you prepare for your assessments. You will be encouraged to put your learning into practice by analying a range of case studies, working on group projects and complete assessments. The type of assessments you will undertake will vary by module and could include group work, written essays or reports, presentations and examinations, or timed in-class tests. You will receive regular feedback as you progress through the course.
Throughout your studies you will have access to a dedicated virtual learning environment which has been ranked in the top three in the world (Student Barometer, autumn 2013). You will be able to access student support material and information relating to each module studied and communicate with your tutor and other members of your course. In addition to this, you will have continued access to drop-in study sessions and one-to-one help with essay writing as well as English language support.
You will be supported throughout your dual degree by a number of staff, both at TAR UC and Sheffield Hallam. You will be able to contact them any time with any queries you have.
• The course leader – They will work closely with you in Malaysia and Sheffield. They can provide you with support and advice about your course.
• The Student Services team – They will provide you with advice and support on a wide range of issues such as University rules and regulations, helping you to plan and manage your workload and any personal worries.
• The module leaders – They will be able to provide academic advice about each specific module and will provide feedback on your assignments. During your first session, you will be given details on how to contact them.

Dual award degree structure
TAR UC and Sheffield Hallam have designed the dual award degree to ensure all the modules provide the content required to successfully complete the assignments and dual award.
You will study both TAR UC and Sheffield Hallam modules. This will not extend the duration of your course.
Sheffield Hallam modules will be delivered at TAR UC and in your final year you will attend a three month study period in Sheffield.
