Change of tactics

How to prepare for part I

• Do as many MCQ’s as you can

• Practice the True/ False format • Complete papers in the allocated time • Decide if you are a good guesser!

Advice on MCQ techniques 1

• Form a MCQ Group Study (Night Club)

• Read first all (5) options before answering

• Finish first the questions you know (different colors)

• Know the meaning of common terms used in MCQ’s (always, never etc.)

Advice on MCQ techniques 2

READ the questions

Pace yourself. Don’t spend long in one question

If you don’t know the answer, move on and return to the question at the end

Trust your instincts

Advice on MCQ techniques 3

• Longer, more specific answers are more likely to be correct

• Very precise figures-19.3%...are unlikely to be correct

• Leave time to check only glaring errors • Remember: your first guess is most likely to be right. Do

not “second-guess” yourself

Logistics

• Mark first the answers on the question booklet • Don’t dwell on problematic questions • Remember: no more negative marking! = = answer all questions! • Transfer carefully the correct answers to the answer

sheet

Pass Mark

• Quality of the paper

• Quality of the candidates

Pass Mark

• European pass mark (EDA 1) • National pass mark • Financial difference (240 – 100) • Only successful candidates who passed the

European pass mark will be eligible for EDA 2 • Countries who adopted both parts of EDA use

the European pass mark in both exams
