We had the best of ZAK exhibitions this year with a good number of enquiries for HEGLA RAPIDLINE cutting table, which is our latest product for this market. In spite of growing competition we have still received a good response. With installations of RAPIDLINE in Pune and Hyderabad coming up early 2015, we want to capitalize on the market response. If only the aluminium and glass halls were adjacent like in Mumbai, we would have had more interactions with the Aluminium and uPVC suppliers as well. Hope this will be taken care of in the next edition (2016) at Delhi. The publicity was more visible this year, and it shows that ZAK has done a lot of groundwork on promoting the event this time. Thanks for all your cooperation.

for their future reference. It was interesting to note that people who had travelled from small towns of the country from UP, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh were aware of uPVC and its advantages as an energy-ef cient and corrosion resistant option. Mohammad Younis, a fabricator from UP asked an insightful question Which is better, uPVC or Aluminium?, which though had the potential to stir-up a stormy debate, but Sandeep Chowdhry dealt it with a chuckle replying, Well, that is debatable, and I would say it depends on your personal preference.

On the third day, a detailed process of an aluminium window fabrication with live demonstration by trained workers from the factory of Durable Windows was conducted. The audience participated with the same fervor; many were returning viewers from the previous days workshop.

It is an excellent show to revive old relationships, and make new ones. Since our factories are a little away from the city, these three days at the Zak Trade Expo are a great opportunity for us to meet people; we have a lounge here where we can make new business connections, meet our competitors, our suppliers. We have been with Zak Doors & Windows Expo from its very beginning, we are part of Zak! I take personal interest in all the arrangements; because of our very long and strong association with Zak Doors & Windows Expo, we are almost the hosts and try to ensure that the exhibition is executed in a seamless fashion. Zak Doors & Windows Expo has always been a great platform for the people of fenestration industry to meet, liaise, and grow their business.

From the rst day, we held many excellent and positive discussions with customers and interested parties, whilst also being able to to conclude various agreements at the trade fair, Dr. Burghard Schnei-der, CEO Bystronic glass commented with a positive conclusion. With our ef cient systems for architectural and automotive glass processing, we were able to exhibit relevant solutions in line with varying customer requirements and we now look forward to positive post-trade fair business. Even at this stage, we can say that glasstec 2014 was a successful trade fair for Bys-tronic glass.

Setting Benchmarks in the Field of Triple Insulating Glass ProductionIn the eld of architectural glass, the BSPEED TPS insulating glass production line stretched the entire length of the trade fair stand. This rapid line can produce triple insulat-ing glass units in the same amount of time it takes other lines to produce double insulating glass units.

The BSPEED TPS is characterised further by various additional develop-ments. For the rst time, individual customer wishes can be accommodat-ed to allow the TPS insulating glass unit seal to be positioned exactly where desired. For example, in an almost invisible position in the corner. The application and seamless sealing of the TPS spacer is then performed in one single work step.

glass presented a world premiere in cooperation with Glass Alliance. The new FGS (Flexible Glass Spacer) spacer from Glass Alliance was applied exclusively on the further-developed exspacerapplicator used for ex-ible spacer application. The core of this machine is a new gear pump that applies a volume-accurate butyl onto the exible spacer. For the rst time ever, with the new FGS spacer, Glass Alliance is offering an entire edge seal, which consists of the spacer, butyl and secondary sealing from a single source.

Accurate Cost Determination via Software SolutionA further highlight in the eld of ar-chitectural glass was the presentation of the new Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) software. With this software, Bystronic glass can simulate various unit con gurations for customers which will accurately determine cer-tain parameters including cycle times, production and logistical costs, etc. The results help customers to optimise individual production processes and to select the correct spacer type. Further-more, using the TCO software, it is possible to generate a detailed Return on Investment calculation.

Quick and Precise Processing of Automotive GlassIn the eld of automotive glass, the globally successful pre-processing champspeed was presented. It enables the quick and precise cutting, break-ing, grinding and drilling of automotive glass. However, this machine is not restricted to only processing automo-tive glass. It is also suitable for process-ing solar glass, glass for household appliances as well as display glass. A new trend is the processing of thin glass. With the champspeed, Bystronic glass offers an economic and produc-tive solution.

Thanks to the modular design of the champspeed, it is possible to combine multiple cells together.

joint, which has proved itself millions of times over, does not require any thermal-mechanical reworking. Irre-spective of radii, small or large spaces between the lites, this failsafe seal always works and is the distinguishing feature of the TPS edge seal from Bystronic glass.

Furthermore, the new BSPEED TPS control unit is more dynamic with a variable number of exible options for customers in respect of TPS warm edge insulating glass production.

Through expansion with complemen-tary components, customers receive a production unit that is tailor-made to their requirements from loading glass plates and the primitive cut-ting through to the completed pre-processed automotive glass all in a single system.

Bystronic glass presented an assort-ment of new, further developments to the champspeed using multimedia in the Automotive Innovation Center. There, visitors could quietly gather in-formation on various automotive glass solutions far away from the general hustle and bustle of the trade fair.

Glass Handling Take It EasyRegarding handling equipment, visitors to the Bystronic glass trade fair stand were able to try a selection of rational handling equipment for all at glass and plate processing sectors for them-selves. This included the best-selling Easy-Lift, which has been impressing customers from the glass processing industry since 1998, with its rigid guid-ance and its own low dead weight.

Furthermore, in recent years, this handling equipment has gradually proved itself with large window manu-facturers due to its extremely exible frame design which ultimately meets their special requirements.

Daily Swiss HourThis years celebrations for the 50th an-niversary of the Bystronic glass Btz-berg division in Switzerland culminated at glasstec 2014. A rustic Swiss style hospitality cabin could be found in the middle of the trade stand which offered guests daily gastronomic treats, with Swiss culinary specialities served be-tween 17:00 and 18:00. Guests from all over the world were thrilled to try typi-cal Swiss raclette cheese whilst being entertained by two alpine horn players.

The big attraction at this years glasstec was the extensive new low-emissivity glass range: colour-neutral iplus top 1.1 insulating glass and the iplus top 1.1 T toughenable version with a thermal transmittance (Ug) of 1.1 W/(mK), as well as iplus advanced 1.0 and its toughenable version iplus advanced 1.0 T, an energy-optimised glass with a thermal transmittance (Ug) of 1.0 W/(mK). For large-area and south-facing glazing, AGC Interpane offers iplus Energy N. This has a special silver coating that reduces the solar factor, while optimising daylight transmission, colour neutrality and re ection. The iplus Energy NT version is toughenable. For triple glazing, the alliance offers products bearing the passive house certi cation: iplus top 3, iplus top 3C and the radiation-optimised high-end product iplus 3 LS alongside the iplus 3 LST toughenable version. It has been two years since the launch of the strategic alliance between AGC Glass Europe and Interpane Glas Industrie AG. At glasstec 2014 in Dsseldorf the two companies presented numerous highlights from their completely revised product range: the main focus was on the new insulating glass portfolio, but there was plenty to see in new types of solar control glass, innovative decorative glass products for interiors and architecture, building-integrated photovoltaics, heatable glazing and a whole lot more.

  • on the outer pane, thus ensuring a consistently good view of the outside world. The iplus AF top version provides high thermal insulation, while iplus AF Energy N delivers effective solar control.

Solar Control Innovations For future-oriented architecture with an optimal energy balance, AGC Interpane offers high-performance solar control glass products, such as Stopray Ultra-50 on Clearvision. This high-end glazing has a triple silver coating, combining maximum light transmission with a signi cantly reduced in ow of heat into the building. The coating is applied to a low-iron oat glass. The solar factor of 23% is especially low, greatly reducing air conditioning costs. At the same time, the daylight transmission of 49% means interiors are ooded with natural light. Its excellent thermal transmittance (Ug) of just 1.0 W/(m

2K) protects against the loss of heating

energy in the winter months. Superb daylight transmission and an especially low total energy transmittance are also offered by Stopray Ultra-60 and 60T on Clearvision. They are also very colour-neutral when looking at or through them, even from oblique angles.

Stopray Smart 30/20 and 51/33 are the latest additions to the Stopray product family. Featuring a magnetron-sputtered silver coating applied, these double glazing products provide excellent solar control (solar factor = 20% and 33% respectively) and thermal insulation (1.1 W/(m2K) according to EN 673). The real innovation, however, is that these products offer the same technical properties in both toughened and non-toughened versions, and that no edge-deletion is needed, making subsequent processing easier. Stopray Smart 51/33 offers an especially neutral appearance and clear views of the outside world. Stopray Smart 30/20

At glasstec 2014 in Dsseldorf, AGC Interpane presented numerous highlights, in particular the new thermal insulation glass range featuring iplus top.

has a pleasant bluish tint, in line with current trends in top international architecture.

Stopray LamiSmart 24 is the rst Stopray coating for laminated glazing and therefore the ideal solution for southern regions where more powerful solar control is required (solar factor = 25%), but where thermal insulation does not play a role. Stopray LamiSmart 24 presents the same technical properties in both toughened and non-toughened versions and is easy to process as no edge-deletion is necessary. The product is available in neutral blue (base product), green, bronze, grey and dark blue.

Modern and Comprehensive Decorative Glass Range The extended Lacobel T toughenable painted glass range is the alliances latest addition to its decorative glass portfolio. What makes it so special is the fact that the colours are burnt into the glass surface during the toughening process, making it extremely resistant to thermal shocks and UV, and suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. For glass

processors the logistical advantage is also attractive: Lacobel T can be cut to size and then toughened at their plant, making processing easier and faster. It is available in 15 different colours. Functional Glass: Need Heating or Electricity? In addition to decorative and building glass products, AGC Interpane presented glazing with special additional functions for heating and building-integrated photovoltaics. ipatherm is a heating glass for use in rooms without a traditional heating system. It contains a very thin, transparent metal layer that can be continuously heated via an electrical connection to temperatures of up to 60 C. This space-saving heating solution provides comfort through the even, allergy-free output of warmth. SunEwat XL is a laminated glass with

embedded mono or polycrystalline photovoltaic cells that generate electricity whenever they are exposed to sun. The super-clear outer pane maximises output. The inner pane can be clear, low-iron, coloured or screen-printed glass. As a result, the modules meet both aesthetic and functional needs, and can be used in facades and spandrels.

Stopray Ultra-50 on Clearvision off ers high daylight transmission, eff ective solar control, and is especially colour-neutral in appearance.
