Residents living on West View Terrace Bradshaw madeAndrew aware of serious flooding down the back of their

houses and the Bowling Club. Andrew has been working

with Calderdale Drainage to come up with a solut ion.

Labour Cllr Daniel Sutherland promised to resolve the

flooding issues in Bradshaw in the 2010 election.

EM PIRE WO RKS,SHAYLANEAndrew was contacted by local resident regarding the eye

saw which was once Empire Works. The building was

demolished and piles of rubble left for nearly two years.The site has not been properly secured and is easily

accessible. I t is a danger to children.

After contacting the owner on several occasions with little

action, Andrew has been pushing Calderdale planning

enforcement to pressure the developer to clear and

secure the site.

Too often commercial buildings are demolished for their

stone and the sites left for considerable amounts oft ime.

Andrew states "This was myfirst place of work after I left

school. Soseeing it left l ike this saddened me.

Developers should only be given permission to demolish

sites i f they have a proper plan to clear and secure the

site. We have numerous sites across North Halifax in

such a state. In the not too distant future wewil l have

Heathy House and St Catherine's High School left vacant.

The council and planning need to ensure these buildings

are secure and if demolished the sites are properly

cleared.

A BBEY PA RK NEEDS

REDEVELOPINGFor years the residents of Abbey Park have put upwith poor housing and neglect. It's about time thisis brought to an end.

Community Cohesion: Andrew agrees with Eric Pickles that councils need to promote the use of English in ourcommunities and should stop wasting tax payers money translating documents into other languages.

Immigration: Andrew strongly believes mass immigration cannot be controlled, without having full control of our

borders, and this cannot beachieved while weare inthe EU.Andrew supports leaving the EUandjoining the

European Free Trade Agreement like Norway and Switzerland.

Andrew calls on Pennine Housing to put together a

plan to re-develop the remaining housing stock.

The number of pot holes and ruts inthe roadsthroughout the area is unacceptable. Shay Lane

Holmfield is a prime example. The council needs tofocus on repairing and resurfacing the roads but

also on the quality of maintenance and repairs be-

ing carried out bycontractors. In many cases, potholes form as a result of poor repairs carried out byutilities or council contractors. It has become a

merry go round of repeated patching and repairs.

Remember, when local Conservatives win our whole community wins.

The quality of the repair work needs to be improved.
