Emigration Statistics
• 87,000 people emigrated Ireland in 2012.
• 36,000 were Irish nationals under the age of 25
• 150,000 young people have emigrated since 2008
• Irelands emigration is the highest recorded since 1990.
Government Response
• Back to Work Scheme ( over 23, out of work two years)
• FAS (job seekers allowance over 3 months)
• Jobbridge Scheme (internship for 6 to 9 months)
The Results
• Jobbridge scheme; to people the opportunity to gain experience and bridge the gap between study and the working world.
• 52% of finishers of the jobbridge scheme are now in paid employment. This is the most successful work placement programme in Europe.
• Fas; offers training and paid employment for various
job area ‘s.• Back to work scheme; is aimed at people receiving unemployment benefit for a long period of time.

• This emigration crisis can be seen as a way to ensure the country is run in a more sustainable way
• Less dependent on foreign companies
• Exports have risen is recent times
• To support Irish companies in order to create Irish jobs and boost the economy
