Pray the Rosary in the Month of May In this month of May, I would like to recall the importance and beauty of the prayer of the holy rosary. Reciting the Hail Mary, we are led to contemplate the mysteries of Jesus, that is, to reflect on the key moments of his life, so that, as with Mary and St. Joseph, he is the center of our thoughts, of our attention, and our actions. It would be nice if, especially in this month of May, we could pray the holy rosary together in the family, with friends, in the parish, or some prayer to Jesus and the Virgin Mary!

“Joyful Again!” Widowed Ministry Retreat / Workshop
For Widowed Men & Women
Dates/Locations: June 22 & 23 St. Julie, Tinley Park July 20 & 21 Holy Family, Inverness September 7 & 8 Mary Queen of Heaven, Elmhurst
New Beginnings is a weekly self-help support group for widowed, divorced, or those going through a divorce as we adjust to our new roles as singles again. We also have fun speakers to inspire us. Come hear Jim Gibbons Tuesday, May 14, at 7:15 as he presents “Chicago’s Landmarks and the Names Behind Them.” Dan Ryan, Jane Byrne, Bessie Coleman, and Casimir Pulaski—these are all names that we hear about so often. Yet, who were these people and why do they hold such a place of honor on Chicago’s landmarks? Historian Jim Gibbons will explain just that and more about Chicago’s most well-known landmarks and the famous names behind them.
Join us any time every Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. (arrive at 7:15 p.m.) at St. Raphael’s Church, 1215 Modaff Road, Naperville. Besides having speakers, we have a rotating schedule of discussions. See more details and any schedule changes, especially any last minute speaker changes, at http://www.newbeginnings-naperville.com and view videos for divorced or widowed experiences. Come see if we can be part of your future.
If you’ve been widowed, you know that it feels as though a part of your heart has been torn out. When the time does come that you make a conscious decision to find hope in your life and you want to try to find some joy in your life, the Joyful Again! Widowed retreat is there to help. This ecumenical weekend program is healing, transitional and supportive – depending on where people are in their personal journey through the loss. If you are a parishioner of St. Andrew and you find yourself in need of food assistance, you are more than welcome to come to the We Care Food Pantry also. Proof of residency is a utility bill with your name and address on it plus your Driver’s License or State of Illinois ID. That must be brought in each time you come for food assistance.
The Pantry is located at 219 Arlington. For further information, please contact Shirley Grzenia at (630) 945-1317. This is the new phone number to call for food pantry inquiries and assistance. Thank you and God Bless.
