HARI Times JAN-MAR 2018
Dear HARI Devotees,
We wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. May Lord Ram shower his
blessings upon you and your family. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for electing us to
the positions of Chairman and President for the year 2018. On behalf of Board of Trustees (BOT), and Exec-
utive Committee (EC), we are excited and honored to serve HARI and our community. We would like to take
this opportunity to thank Pu. Shastriji and Pu. Swamiji, the spiritual beacons of our community guiding all of
us through the past years and we seek their guidance over this coming year.
Over the years, HARI has continued to grown leaps and bounds in terms of membership, religious events
celebrated and attendance. As our community expands we need to ensure that the right foundation is laid to
support this growth. We plan to adopt two simple themes as launch pads for programs to support to this
growth and we need all your help to help make this possible.
Our themes are
1. Growth (Ensure that "HARI Trust Fund" balance reaches a total of $2,000,000.00)
2. Excellence in service (Streamline line HARI operation, creating a simple and transparent opera-
tions model to serve you)
The combined BOT and EC will continue to strive to provide necessary services and conveniences required
to make your experiences at HARI wholistic and satisfying. To sustain and expand our capabilities to serve
you, we are planning to initiate a progressive program of updates and maintenance to our infrastruc-
ture. Two such targeted projects in this portfolio of improvement programs are, implementing an upgrade to
our kitchen, and installation of a elevator for use by our senior community members. We welcome your ideas
on other such capability improvement programs. Coupled with the above infrastructure initiatives we will con-
tinue to stress on expansion of services offered by HARI School, Youth and Anandam group.
As the Hindu religious ambassadors of the our community in South Central PA and more particularly in the
Greater Harrisburg area, we will work to improve our relations with the other communities at large by partici-
pating in initiatives like the Interfaith Prayers and conferences to enhance our presence, and leadership.
Hindu dharma prescribes giving to others as the greatest of all the virtues we can attain in this world, with
this in mind we plan to continue lead via partnership and contribution towards local humanitarian initiatives
like food drives, food banks and other community programs. We request all of you support these programs
whole heartedly.
The success and growth of the HARI is and has always been based on the participation and generosity of
our members, in donations as well as in kind. We thank each and every one of you for your contributions till
date and request that you continue to shower your generosity and support for the continued growth of the
HARI. Please take a resolution to help HARI to remain a strong and unified family for years to come and
support us.

HARI SCHOOL
Namaste, Students and Parents, Happy 2018!
As we look back at our journey through 2017, we reflect on the rapid strides we have taken to make the HARI
School a fun place for our students every Sunday!
On both academic and cultural fronts, we have achieved tremendous progress, which is evident in the energy
and excitement exuded by our students Sunday mornings. Their language skills is improving by the day and
so is their ability to decipher the nitty-gritty of our glorious culture.
We continue to provide our students with more opportunities to immerse in the glory of our cultural heritage
via the annual Holi celebrations, Ganesh puja, Saraswati puja, Ravan Dahan and Diwali lantern making. We
built on our experience from 2016 Guru Vandana celebrations to put together another enthralling program for
our students’ grade school teachers. Over 40 teachers from close to 12 districts and over 15 schools in the re-
gion converged at HARI, some along with their family member, for 2017 Guru Vandana. All of these pro-
grams have had a salubrious impact on our students.
In a nutshell, we have had a wonderful year, which was largely possible due to the perseverance of our hard-
working teachers and the cooperation of the parents and, of course, our ever ebullient students!
Before we sign off, we thank you for your generous donations to the ‘Diwali Food Drive’. We were able to
collect 70 lbs. of nonperishable food items, which were donated to the Central PA Food Bank.
Sincerely,
Dinesh R. Pai Vijay Varadarajan
HARI School Director Youth Forum Director
