Key takeaways for d4 and the mobile healthcare industry
1720101214 MHIR presentation© 2010 d4 www.d4.org.uk
Takeaways for the mobile health care industryWhat can we do to increase the use of mobile technology?
Health care professionals typically carry their own phone while at work
No one mobile handset or network dominates supply: value is a major decision factor in both cases
This is perhaps unsurprising given that health care professionals incur a financial cost for work related usage that is rarely compensated
This usage is primarily for communicating with colleagues, although using smart phone functionality is also a significant factor
Economics are not the only factor that inhibits mobile phone usage – employer policy appears inconsistent with employees general belief that mobiles raise productivity
Recognise that employees, not employers, are the buyers
Build solutions that support multiple platforms
Value and functionality are key decision criteria when buying
High smart phone use = high potential for apps
Killer apps will support colleague communication
Challenge the disconnect between employer//employee
Help employers manage growing ‘consumerisation’
