Take Your Time

• Look straight at the other person as you talk to show that you mean what you say

Don’t Apologize

• You don’t need to explain or justify your decision to others. Just stick to your values.

Suggest An Alternative

• Reverse the pressure you feel by suggesting another activity, one that is safe and fun.

Avoid Mixed Messages

• Body language should reinforce what you say

Stay in Control

• Try not to get angry or upset.

• Stay calm

Change the Subject

• Talk about something else-deflect the pressure

Reject the Action, not the Person• Refuse to go along without putting the other person down

Use humor

• Say something like “you can’t be serious” to let people know you aren’t interested

Walk Away

• Walk away if someone refuses to take no for an answer
