40th Y ear In Ministry By MRS. DONALD ROBERTS
News' Staff Correspondent The Rev. A. C. Thober, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church,
will celebrate his 40th year in the ministry with a Memorial service Sunday. Rev. Walter Pasche, pastor of Concordia Lutheran Church, Toledo, will be the anniversary speaker.
Rev. Thober attended Concordia College at Fort Wayne, Ind., and was graduated from Concordia Seminary, Springfield, 111., in June, 1914.
He was ordained on August 8th, " 1914 at Gethsemane Lutheran'yeare-Church, Buffalo, New York, his home congregation, by Rev. Frank Verweible.
Following ordination he was called to St. John's Lutheran Church at Underwood, North Dakota, where he served from 1914-1919.
He ministered to the congregation of the St. John's Lutheran Church at the Cove, Maryland, from 1919-1923.
Trinity Lutheran Church, Elmore, called him as pastor in 1923, where he was installed by the Rev. H. Horst. Rev. Thober has been their pastor from 1923 to the present date, a pastorate of 31
Under his guidance alid service the membership which totaled 150 on his installation has grown to over 400. A new church and parsonage were also erected, and in the last few years a new Reuter pipe organ was installed, and new chancel panelling and carpeting and altar rail.
Rev. and Mrs. Thober have four children—William and Herbert of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Rupert Meiz-ner, of Denver, Colo., and Eu gene of Marblehead, Mass.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shaffer are announcing the birth of their first child, a son, born in Memorial Hospital on Thursday afternoon

The little boy weighed 9 lbs. and has been named David Kim. Mrs. Shaffer is the former Betty Jane Taylor of Fremont and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shaffer are the paternal grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Lohr entertained a group of relatives in honor of'the third birthday of their daughter, Lynda, On Wednesday evening. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lohr and Bill, Mr. Ben Miller, Mrs. Lawrence Witte, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Miller, Sandra, Ruthann and Cheryl of Genoa, and the hosts and their son, Jerry.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kulwicki of Augusta street are announcing the birth of their first child, a daughter, on Saturday morning in Memorial Hospital. The little girl has been named Christine Ann and weighed 4 lbs. 1 oz. Mrs. Kulwicki and Mrs. Henry Kroos are sisters.
Mfr. and Mrs. Beryl Witty and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Slates attended the American Legion Auxiliary Convention in Cincinnati from Friday until Sunday, Mr. Witty and Mr. Slates representing Community Post No. 279 and Mrs. Witty and Mrs. Slates representing Community Unit No. 279.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Eoff and son Robert are on a vacation trip to Michigan.
Miss Jean Arndt of Blencoe, Iowa, left Tuesday morning for her home after a two-week visit in the home of her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Arndt and family. On her way home, she will stop at Indianapolis for a visit with an uncle.
Thirty friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Johnson last Wednesday for a pot-luck supper in honor of the birthday of Rev. L. L. Young.
Dennis Kruse, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Kruse, is recovering from a wound in his leg where he was accidentally shot Sunday afternoon.

' DIRECTOR of "Ten Nights in a Bar Room" which will be featured at the Huron Playhouse from Aug. 10 to 14, is F. Lee M iesle. He directed several plays at the Huron Playhouse in 1952.
Mrs. Harold Kuhlman, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Redman, Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Dolph and Itev. and Mrs. C. Ralph Schmidt attended the Kiwanis, Rotary, and Lions meeting at Lakeside on July 27th.
Twenty-five members and two visitors attended the regular Kiwanis meeting last week. The visitors were Howard James and Francis Streiffert. Burton James was program chairman and introduced the speaker, Howard Tassel, who spoke on the subject: "Adult Education in Economics."
Rev. C. Ralph Schmidt inducted Maynard Yeasting and Carl Kon-tak into membership of the club. Harold Pickard, Lamar Hetrick and Rev. Schmidt observed birthdays in July and Laurie Dolph and Rev. Schmidt observed wedding anniversaries.
Mrs. Albert Picard, Mrs. Nelson Johnson, Mrs. Ernest Giesler, Mrs. Margaret Rymers, Mrs. Fred Kuhlman and Mrs. Bernice Boothman attended Farm Women'n Camp at Camp Yukita on Catawba Island from Sunday until Wednesday.
Several relatives and friends attended open house at Camp Mia-konda last Wednesday evening, thirteen of the Elmore Scouts being at camp all last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kuhlman, Richard and Linda, left for Columbiana Saturday morning and attended a class reunion of her graduating class of Cleveland City Hospital on Sunday. They returned home by way of Niagara Falls.
Marilou Weber was a guest of Sally Summers at their cottage on Catawba list Tuesday afternoon.
